Cardboard cut out fans? 11:08 - Jun 3 with 4042 views | noah4x4 | OK, who intends investing £25? Would prefer the sex doll option employed in Korea (if I can keep it), but if Cardboard motivates the players towards promotion, I'm in.

Cardboard cut out fans? on 21:31 - Jun 9 by noah4x4 | A group of us have bought a cardboard cut-out of Paul (Bingo) Wright (RIP). We are raising funds for the Colchester United Community Fund in his memory. Please donate directly to this good cause if you wish to contribute. We will be holding 90 minutes silence during Colchester United versus Exeter City. Please ensure that your cardboard cut out respects this. |
I've even topped up my Colchester privilege card ready for half time. Up the U's

bwildered - in fairness our relatively small number of cardboard cutouts will not make a great deal of difference, but they do bring some money into the club and they will look colourful on the TV broadcasts. Colchester are to be applauded for kicking off the initiative in League Two (although Exeter have no joined the party) and for their free postage and packing for items purchased from the shop. I have invested in training wear (30% off the price) and my sons have bouight me some polo shirts for Father's day. The trend for cardboard figures has taken off in the Bundesliga and in Australia in different professional sports. South Korea even has soft toys - bears, giraffes, superheroes etc. The Premier League clubs are investing in cardboard plus face masks in club colours and the tannoy systems will broadcast goal noise and spectator sounds. It is just a bit of fun and the figures will last into next season providing they weather well. I hope that the club will transport them to Wembley for the final! Seriously, invest £25 you know it makes sense!!!! Up the U's

Next step, perhaps photograph the lot and convert it into a 1,000 piece jigsaw to keep us occupied until the final end of lockdown. I think this is a great bit of fun.

It wouldn't surprise me if this resulted in zero profit for the club's. The margins are evidently slim. Lifesize stand up cardboard "Star Cut Outs" on Amazon cost £34.99 each, and can be mass produced. But for U's fans,, these must be individually printed and cut, albeit the latter is a single common profile, so some bulk production techniques are feasible. Cardboard is surprisingly expensive. Nobody would bother recycling it if it wasn't!

The FAQs said the club does get a share of the money generated - the cut-out company do all the labour, installation etc. I doubt it'll be a massive amount, but it all helps I guess.

Apparently it was all discussed at the recent board meeting. The cut outs will leave the opposition feeling flat and one dimensional. Certainly a talking point even if the figures will not be too vocal during games. They also come flat packed. Without getting into too much hot water will any of the fairer sex be represented in the East stand I wonder. Keep the faith Up the U's

500 is brilliant. Hopefully U's cut will be enough to pay Deano extra for his upcoming double shut out...

Socially distanced, 2 metres apart, reckon 500 will fill the East stand.
Cardboard cut out fans? on 17:44 - Jun 20 with 615 views | mfb_cufc | A quote from the OMB:- "I hear Exeter have sold 1256 card cut outs for Mondays game, so one of their stands will be well populated!" I also read on the 15th June that Cheltenham had sold 1,100 cardboard cut outs. Figure probably higher now.

I saw that Greyhound Cilla was the star at the match the other evening. Seems everyone has gone to the dogs recently! The only thing that matters on Monday evening is the scoreline avoid defaet and we are at Wembley. But we don't want to go defensive and so an early goal for the Super U's will kill the tie. Cardboard cut out fans? on 18:11 - Jun 21 with 578 views | gerry_us | Interesting to see the photo of us all from the U's facebook as suggested by Wessex but for the life of me I haven't spotted myself. More of concern however is the sight of steward with face mask sitting in the back row. Were they expecting troubles?
