Week 1 Results
BRISTOL CITY 2 COVENTRY 1
City get a late winner as Coventry lose in the league for the first time in 2020. A decent 6 got this spot-on, and a further 13 had the outcome.
HUDDERSFIELD 0 NORWICH 1
Norwich also get a late winner in a game that looked like heading for bore draw. 3 had this spot-on, and 13 got the outcome, with 12 going for a 2-1 in what was the weeks most predicted score.
WYCOMBE 0 ROTHERHAM 1
Rotherham get a 92nd minute winner. That was good news for thrillseeker as he did well to be the only one to get this spot-on, and another 7 had the outcome.
CREWE 0 CHARLTON 2
Charlton start with a comfortable win after their unlucky relegation, against a Crewe team that had ex-U's Mikael Mandron hitting the woodwork for them. A good 5 had this spot-on, with a another 12 getting the outcome.
GILLINGHAM 0 HULL 2
Hull started their first season in League One since 2004-05 with an impressive victory. Only 2 got this spot-on, with another 9 having the outcome.
NORTHAMPTON 2 AFC WIMBLEDON 2
Nothampton came from behind twice to get a draw in an entertaining game. Nobody had this spot-on, though 3 did get the outcome. 22 predicted a win for Northampton.
PLYMOUTH 1 BLACKPOOL 0
A goal in the 3rd minute from Wales Under-21 international striker Luke Jephcott was enough to win it for Plymouth. A magnificent 7 got this spot-on, and a further 11 had the outcome.
BARROW 1 STEVENAGE 1
An early penalty looked set to give Barrow for their first EFL win in 48 years, until Stevenage got an 85th minute penalty of their own to force a draw. 4 had this spot-on, and 3 more got the outcome.
BOLTON 0 FOREST GREEN 1
Promotion favourites Bolton, playing in the fourth tier for the first time in 32 years, have now lost all 3 games this season. 3 got this spot-on, and just 1 had the outcome. 20 predicted a win for Bolton.
SOUTHEND 0 HARROGATE 4
Harrogate started life in the English Football League with a convincing victory.
Nobody had this spot-on, but 6 did get the outcome.
Due to the condensed season there will be nineteen 10 game weeks this season. We start and end with one picked by myself. The other seventeen will be guest ones, so please check your messages when you log in, as you could be next for picking 10 games.
League's One and Two had not played a league game since 7th March, and with this weeks 10 games containing teams playing in a different league to last season, and all behind closed doors, this could have been a recipe for strange results. As it turned out the results were probably less strange than in former normal times. Only two games failed to have a 3 pointer, and the other eight all had gettable scores, that produced 31 spot-ons. Those 3 pointers were shared out so that 20 members started the season with one. Of those 20 there were 2 with outstanding performances. They were sevebalo who had a sensational first week by getting 4 spot-ons, the wins for Charlton, Hull, Plymouth and Forest Green, and with 3 outcomes, he is the weeks top scorer with an absolutely brilliant 15 points. Not far behind on the sensational scale was ghughes11. He had 3 spot-ons, the wins for Bristol City, Charlton and Plymouth, and 4 outcomes to give him a really excellent 13 points. There were 6 members who had 2 spot-ons, of which the best was medicine_man, who had the wins for Bristol City and Hull, and 4 outcomes to give him a superb 10 points.
In the Premier No doubt who leads the way here. After losing out on the title in a photo finish two seasons ago, could this finally be the season when sevebalo gets that first title. Early days I know, but he couldn't have had a better start. Runner-up from last season thrillseeker moves straight into that position thanks to having the 1-0 wins for Norwich and Rotherham spot-on. In the final Charity Shield spot is mfb_cufc who did best of those who had one 3 pointer. After his promotion basher2010 was straight into form in his first season in the Premier, by having the 1-0 wins for Norwich and Plymouth spot-on. Even though current champ noah4x4 only got 2 results correct, they were both 3 pointers, the wins for Charlton and Plymouth.
In Division One The excellent week for ghughes11 gives him a good early advantage in this league. After a season away it seems that medicine_man spent the time creating a secret potion. It has certainly worked well for him today, and he occupies the other automatic spot. Just another 33 weeks for it to carry on working. After finishing third last season blueeagle is straight back into that place thanks to having the Charlton 2-0 and Barrow 1-1 spot-on. The sixth and final member to get two 3 pointers was wessex_exile, who got the wins for Bristol City and Charlton to put him fourth. After his unlucky eighth place last season Lewis_1 is straight back into a play-off spot. The final play-off spot has BFG heading a group of five on the first to post rule. I am sorry GOSBTS the spreadsheet was unable to conjure up any magic to get you some points.
