Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton, seventh World Title and most Grand Prix wins . Just far away better than the rest .
But could he do Colchester rush hour, with the gates down and Essex Highways continuous road and lane closures, would be the fastest driver going nowhere fast .

Nigel Mansell always used to say that negotiating the M1 motorway was far worse than driving in a grand Prix.

Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton a magnificent drive and a worthy champion.

Tremendous achievement. The greatest ever....

Worthy of a knighthood.........

That is when he returns from Monaco to pay UK taxes on his earnings.......

And when he drives for a constructor that hasn't got the fastest car.

George Russell (novice) standing in for Hamilton takes pole position.

Enough said. It's all about the car and team instructions for colleague drivers to allow Hamilton to win in a Mercedes 1-2.

Well said Noah

A novice gets a drive with Mercedes and suddenly in pole position. To me this shows it is the car.

Would love to see Hamilton drive for a team with an inferior car to see his position

I thought I was the only one who thought Hamilton was the most overrated sportsman on the planet, so thanks noah4x4 and thrillseeker for thinking the same.

Got to say I disagree with your comments about Hamilton.
He is certainly, in my opinion the outstanding driver of his generation.
I never compare Sportsmen from one generation to the next as circumstances are not the same.
Botas got pole with Russell, who is not a novice having had 36 previous starts, in second place.
Every five years or so history of F1 shows us one manufacturer has the outstanding car.
Good examples in recent times are Vettel and Red Bull, Shumacher and Ferrari both of whom, unlike Hamilton had team orders in place, so that they were always favoured and this incidentally was why Vettel left Red Bull because Verspaten would not accept playing second fiddle.

The best cars and teams attract the best drivers. The cars do not drive themselves, and to win seven championships shows something very special over a long period of time in a sport which if you stand still you are soon overtaken by others .
