ASTON VILLA 1 BRIGHTON 2
Brighton won at Villa Park for the first time in their history. A great result for Brighton fan GOSBTS, and he was the only one to predict his team to win, and he got it spot-on. 23 predicted a win for Villa.
TOTTENHAM 2 MANCHESTER CITY 0
It is the first time since August 2014 that Tottenham will finish a day top of the Premier League and the first time they have done so after at least nine top-flight games since January 1985. City have had 41 shots in their past two league games against Spurs but have lost both without scoring. 2 had this spot-on, and another 7 got the outcome.
MANCHESTER UNITED 1 WEST BROM 0
Bruno Fernandes' twice-taken second-half penalty was enough to give United their first Premier League victory of the season at Old Trafford. Well done to Pinault_Noir for being the only one to get this spot-on, and 24 more had the outcome.
MIDDLESBROUGH 0 NORWICH 1
Norwich moved top of the Championship after a tale of two penalties. Marcus Tavernier's spot-kick was disallowed as he slipped and touched the ball twice, then Teemu Pukki put his away to win it for Norwich, and bring an end to Middlesbrough's 11 match unbeaten league run. 3 had this spot-on, and 6 more got the outcome.
WYCOMBE 0 BRENTFORD 0
Wycombe kept only their second clean sheet since promotion to the Championship as they frustrated Brentford in this bore draw. Nobody got this spot-on, and only Pinault_Noir had the outcome. 23 predicted a win for Brentford.
IPSWICH 2 SHREWSBURY 1
Ipswich got a 97th minute winner, as they came from behind to beat Shrewsbury and keep their 100% home win record. A magnificent 7 had this spot-on, and a futher 14 got the outcome with 12 going for a 2-0 in what was the weeks most predicted score.
PETERBOROUGH 1 BLACKPOOL 2
Blackpool got a 90th minute winner to give them a fifth successive victory in all competitions, after ex-U's Frankie Kent had got the Peterborough equaliser. Nobody got this spot-on, and only gsy163 had the outcome. 22 predicted a win for Peterborough.
PORTSMOUTH 4 CREWE 1
Portsmouth climbed up to fourth in League One after taking advantage of a series of defensive errors to thrash Crewe. Again nobody had this spot-on, but 21 did get the outcome.
WIGAN 1 OXFORD UNITED 2
Oxford picked up a deserved three points with a win against their fellow League One strugglers. 3 got this spot-on, and another 7 had the outcome.
SOUTHEND v CAMBRIDGE UNITED POSTPONED Southend players test positive for Covid-19
STEVENAGE 1 BOLTON 2
Two first-half goals provided enough of a cushion for Bolton to see off a struggling Stevenage. A magnificent 7 got this spot-on, and a further 8 had the outcome.
Just when I thought we were going to have a week with no Covid-19 postponements, the Southend v Cambridge game was called off late last night. As wessex_exile said on another thread the problems at Southend run deeper than just a few players having the virus. It must be touch and go whether they last the season to see their relegation through. Cambridge were not happy about this late call off, and I wondered do the EFL test these players, or do they just take the clubs word for it. I say this because being a cynical person I was thinking if a team had a lot of injuries could they get a game postponed by saying players had tested positive for Covid-19, to give them two weeks off withiut a game and get some of the injured players back.
That postponement left us with the original 10 fixtures, and they produced a mixed bag of results with Villa, Brentford and Peterborough big disappointments, and even the predictable wins for Man Utd and Portsmouth only produced one 3 pointer between them. It was left to the 2-1 wins for Ipswich and Bolton to turn a poor week into a respectable one, and they produced 14 of the total 24 spot-ons. One member did well to have 3 of those 3 pointers, that was GOSBTS, who had those 2-1 wins for Ipswich and Bolton spot-on to go with his good Brighton 2-1 pick, and one outcome to give an excellent 10 points. Not quite enough to be the weeks top scorer, as that honour went to BFG, who did best of those to have 2 spot-ons, the wins for Tottenham and Norwich, and five outcomes, to give him a brilliant 11 points with his chosen fixtures. An excellent 10 points was also achieved by Daniel, who had the wins for Tottenham and Oxford spot-on, and four outcomes.
Week 12 will now be a 7 game week to make up the Southend v Cambridge game being postponed this week.
Happy Cup Just a reminder that the Group stage 2nd Round fixtures take place this weekend. All details are on the separate Happy Cup thread. Since the fixtures were first posted there has been a number of changes to kick-off times. So it now means THE DEADLINE IS SATURDAY 28TH NOVEMBER 13.00
In the Premier We have a new leader with mfb_cufc taking over at the top for the first time since Week 6 in the 2017/18 season, thanks to having the Oxford 2-1 spot-on. Up four places into second, and having no problem dealing with the Premier after his promotion, is Daniel after his excellent week. Last weeks leader thrillseeker has to settle for the final Charity Shield spot this week, though only on the most 3 pointer rule from Blue4U2, who is another off to bright start after being promoted. Although he had the Ipswich 2-1 spot-on TheFatGooner drops a couple of places. As does noah4x4 after going a third week without a 3 pointer. Though both remain well in contention as only 5 points separate the top six. Up a couple of places is basher2010, after getting the wins for Norwich and Bolton spot-on. An impressive six outcomes has sevebalo moving up three places. After having a couple of weeks out of the relegation zone gerry_us drops back in again, but is only a point behind the two directly above him, as things remain tight in this division.
In Division One A decent 9 points for concordman, that included having the Norwich 1-0 spot-on, continues his good recent run, and he stretches his lead to a good 6 points. A third week in a row without a 3 pointer for ghughes11, but he remains in the other automatic spot. The play-off places remain the same as last week, but good weeks for unitedwhites and blueeagle, who both had the 2-1 wins for Ipswich and Bolton spot-on, and durham_exile who had the 2-1 wins for Oxford and Bolton spot-on, means they are all closing in on those automatic spots. Up three places, and just losing out on a play-off spot thanks to the most 3 pointer rule is BFG, after his top scoring performance. The excelent week for GOSBTS moves him up a couple of places, as he continues to repair the damage of his poor start. After their rapid rise, that almost took them into a play-off spot, TheHappyGooner have moved rapidly the other way this week, and they drop five places.
