1-1 draw with Oxford that keeps them out of the bottom 4 so not a good result for Pompey

Bet they can't wait for the reverse fixture - so they can make a few extra pallet towers this time around !!

....and to think we haven't played Oxford in a league game since 1987/88 !!

....and their 'new' stadium opened around the same time as St Mary's.

We've rarely ever played Oxford and we've certainly never lost a home game against them.

The teams that Saints have played most - we've had more games against Spurs and Manchester United than any other teams - are completely different to the teams Little Pompey have played most games against, which are mostly teams from the lower divisions, like Charlton.

When they do play a big team like Arsenal they get all over excited and try and play up to the TV cameras with some sort of fawning, embarrassing antics.

As they haven't won a game against Arsenal for more than 60 years, it's no wonder their fans look up to them in total awe. You can understand why Arsenal are still the top Premier League team in Portsmouth. Mind you, Little Pompey haven't won a game against Chelsea for 60 years either, which would explain why you see plenty of Chelsea shirts in Portsmouth too.

Anyway, they've found their right level now and next season will be their 25th in the bottom two divisions, where they can meet teams of a similar size on equal terms and don't have to go 60 years without ever beating them. #palette on

Looks like there was a bit of aggro on the pitch after the game.

I guess they have now found their true rivals. A club south of Birmingham of comparable size and stature. Oxford.

Poll: If we win a play-off semi at St. Mary’s should there be a pitch invasion?

That's it: Little Pompey v Oxford - the inconsequential derby.

24 years ago tonight !!

The last time we played Oxford United at their place !!

I was on the away terrace at the Manor Ground that night to witness a screamer from Richard Dryden, that rescued us a replay that we went on to win 3-2 at the Dell.

Don't remember too much about the game, apart from the superb and unexpected goal and someone smoking a rather potent joint - that not only stank out the (roofless) terrace, but triggered a round of 'smoke a joint joint joint' to the tune of Agadoo.
