Ins for 21/22 season 13:51 - May 5 with 21630 viewsburnsieespana

According to twitter we are apparently looking at Kyle Hudlin of Solihull Moors FC.
Suspect we will be linked with huge number of potential signing this summer so thought worth a new thread.

Spotted on the OMB, looks like we’re taking a look at young centre forward Cole Kiernan, recently released by Middlesbrough.

https://the72.co.uk/242471/colchester-united-to-cast-eye-over-attacker-cole-kier

Why don't we look at Andy Carroll as he has departed Newcastle, albeit unwillingly.
We need a front man and wouldn't that be interesting in Div.2.
As Durham would say.."I'll get my medication now"

Cole Kiernan at 19 is another of the unbtried youngsters released by bigger clubs.

I suspect that if he did come to the club he would languish on the sidelines.

Andy Carroll would be ideal just a problem with the wages and his injury problems.

Stockport County have signed my favourite in a suprise departure from Barrow.

Things have gone quiet on the striker front.

We definitely need more firepower. The club are never ambitious enough when it comes to strikers.

With the season opener fast approaching action is needed now.

Are we going to sign Richard Kone or not?

I'd hope so after his performance today, thought he had a very good game.

Information from the OMB said 34 year-old Charlie Daniels was playing as a trialist against Ipswich tonight. Released by Portsmouth at the end of last season, he previously played a number of games in the Premier League for Bournemouth.

Darren Ferguson was in the crowd tonight, thought to be watching Clampin. With Daniels being a left wing-back, he could be looked at as a replacement for Clampin, if he is off to Peterborough.

Nothing against Daniels but would hate to loose Clampin as the team without him starts to look a bit on the mature side!.

Richard Kone has left Colchester to have a trial at a Premier League club.

Now I don't know which club but let's assume he is taken on then he will languish in the U23's whilst if he comes to play for us then he would play in the first team and up front.

Personally I hope he can be enticed back.

Likely as not by the time he then gets released he will have made more money than he would by signing for us.
Shame but that is football at the highest level.

Kone is only on trial, so hasn't signed for anybody yet. There is still hope for us, but probably only on a loan basis, if he does sign for this mystery Premier League team.

I wonder if Crystal Palace is the mystery club.

We do need more strike force.

Can HM pull this one out of the bag.

If a PL side have him on trial, there isn't a snowball in hell's chance that Hayden Mullins can pull this out of the bag. Even if the PL side decide against, he'll now be on the radar of a host of Championship and League 1 sides unfortunately. Best outcome, whoever does sign him let him come back on loan - I'd be happy with that.

But I'm also going to be realistic - the kid clearly has talent and potential, but he's not going to be the make or break of our season. We already have a squad brimming with talent and potential, so if we have to go through next season without Richard Kone, we'll cope.

I agree Richard Kone is not the only game in town but he offers pace and skill up front, something sadly we are still lacking.

Michael Folivi might yet be the answer but he will be out until November.

Sears and Big Frank will not get us 25 goals unfortunately.

Judge and Hannant might from midfield.

Still time for a striker.

I don't believe for one moment that Kone will play in the premiership this season.

Neither do I believe we have yet lost him.

Sadly agents are the villains of the piece here.

We will see if any of the triallists are taken on.

HM certainly showing he is not going to be rushed into making further signings and has after all got the best part of a month yet.
Still plenty of players free agents and within a couple of weeks Premiership clubs be mako g final decisions on squads.
In reality surely we must have several of our own youngsters who deserve opportunities?

From twitter:- Sylvester Jasper is close to joining Colchester United on loan.

He is a 19 year-old striker who plays for Fulham. If true, hope he turns out to be more productive than Taylor-Crossdale, the last striker we had on loan from Fulham.

Jake Turner, 22 year old keeper from Newcastle on loan until January. Represented England at U18 and U19. Half a season at Morcambe last season. Reading between the lines this maybe implies that Gerken is knackered, he's barely featured in pre-season.
