Tommy Smith 13:36 - Jul 16 with 808 viewsmfb_cufc

Named as the U's captain for the season.

Thought the job may have gone to Luke Chambers, as he did it fior a number of seasons at Ipswich. It is a good we have a number of leaders in the team now, as it is something we have lacked recently.

Tommy Smith eh.
Hope he can come even close to emulating THE only real Tommy Smith, ex Liverpool of whom his manager Bill Shankly once said of him: "Tommy Smith wasn't born, he was quarried".
That's what we need in our team. Hope it goes well for him. Am really looking forward to the new season; it can only be better than last season...can't it?

Gerry it suggests to me a 3,5,2 or 3,4,3 line up this season with Smith as Captain

Gerken

Chambers Eastman Smith

Welch-Hayes Hannant Wiredu Judge Clampin

Sears Nouble

Hannant would move to Right Wing if 3,4,3 was adopted.

Of course Skuse and Tchamadeu and Chilvers are also in the frame.

And if he signs Richard Kone well he must start up front

Interesting options

Right man for the job.
Don't hugely disagree with your possible team but personally hope George gets the nod.

Definitely - no disrespect to Tom, who is a fantastic defender and exemplary servant to Col U over so many years, that's not his thing and I reckon he'll be delighted the man alongside him has got the nod.

I do love your positivity Durham. The guy scores one goal against Billericay Town in a friendly and he's an instant starter!

RS - Kone gets a chance behind closed doors against Watford.

He has pace, is athletic, good skill.
Let's see how he does tomorrow.

LOL - I think the point being, he might not be the messiah, he might just be a very naughty boy

Hope he does well in the next one, and earns the plaudits he's already getting.

The simple fact is if we don't sign him up then we will regret it.

His goals can fire us to League One.
