Week 9 results

CHELSEA 3 SOUTHAMPTON 1

Chelsea scored two late goals to beat winless 10-man Southampton and move top of the Premier League. Everybody predicted a win for Chelsea, with 6 getting it spot-on. 12 predicted them to win 2-0 in what was the weeks most predicted score.

LUTON TOWN 0 HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 0
The bore draw here means that has become our top result for the season so far. Nobody had this spot-on, but 6 did get the outcome.

PETERBOROUGH UNITED 2 BRISTOL CITY 3
Sammie Szmodics double was not enough to stop Peterborough losing again. Nobody got this spot-on, though 13 did have the outcome.

CREWE ALEXANDRA 2 CAMBRIDGE UNITED 2
Cambridge get a 94th minute equaliser as they fought back from two goals down to earn draw. Another game with no 3 pointer, but 6 did get the outcome.

GILLINGHAM 0 WIGAN ATHLETIC 2
Wigan returned to the top of League One as two second-half goals wrapped up victory. 3 got this spot-on, and a further 21 had the outcome.

NEWPORT COUNTY 3 SCUNTHORPE UNITED 0
Newport began the post-Michael Flynn era with a commanding win over Scunthorpe, who drop to the bottom of League Two. The last game tthis week with no 3 pointer, though 26 did get the outcome.

After a number of weeks struggling for points, I thought things had taken a turn for the better this week, until late goals for Cambridge and Newport put paid to that. It means we are still waiting for that first illusive 2-0 this season. In the end there was 4 games with no 3 pointer, making it 26 games for the season, that has failed to have one. The spot-ons we did have were dominated by Division One, with all of them coming in that league. At least the big number of outcomes from Chelsea, Wigan and Newport made sure everybody got at least 2 points. The weeks outstanding performance, without doubt, came from Tropical_Us, as he was the only one to have both the 3 pointers, and he completed a full house by having the other four outcomes, to make him the weeks top scorer with an excellent 10 points. Best of those to have one 3 pointer were burnsieespana, GOSBTS and oxfcolu, who each had the Chelsea 3-1 spot-on, and four outcomes, to give them all a decent 7 points.

In the Premier In what has been an extraordinary season so far, this division failed to have a 3 pointer, in what is a very rare occurence. With the bottom three all still looking for a first 3 pointer this season, I thought I would look back in my time of administrating the Happy League to see if anybody had gone that long in getting one before. I found it was in my first season 2014/15 where Blue4U2 went 56 games before he got one, so all three have beaten that now. The important thing is they have all got a decent number of outcomes, that means only 15 points separate 2nd to 10th. While this is all going on RSCOSWORTH continues to increase his advantage at the top, and his impressive five outcomes, has extended his advantage to a decent 14 points. With a majority of the division getting either 3 or 4 points, there very little change, with only mfb_cufc, Sector4 and concordman all moving up a place, but then only on the tie-breaker rules.

In Division One The excellent week for Tropical_Us has stormed him to the top, as he has made a good start to make a quick return to the Premier. He becomes the sixth member to top Division One this season. A one week stay at the top for blueeagle, but he is still in the other automatic place. After spending the last five weeks in fourth, gerry_us continued his consistent start, by moving up a place, thanks to getting the Wigan 2-0 spot-on. Three outcomes each for medicine_man and MrHappy2, in fourth and fifth. After his decent week, burnsieespana moves up a place into the final play-off spot. Other members in the + column this week are GOSBTS, up another two places, after his decent week, and BFG and bwildered, who both move up a place.

THE TABLES (62 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
