Today, we worked it out that we must get an allocation of a minimum of 350 away tickets. Given how many of us have 23x match day passes in lieu of STs, even if given priority, many regular fans are likely to be disappointed. We typically take 250 away to distant fixtures, many of whom can't afford season long match day passes, so probably more disappointment there. Add to the general anger about the inability to select your seat at the Jobserve it is perhaps fortunate that this match will be televised live on terrestrial TV.

I suspect CUFC will decide to open the Centennial Suite to milk fans of money (assuming it is not a Tribute Act Night), yet won't open Hot Shots or Fans Bar on a regular match day. Easier to get to football friendly pubs like the Marquis will be packed. I might have a party, Real Ales, TV, BBQ, black pudding, bangers (pork), firework rockets and catherine wheels. Sounds a plan.

Crikey Noah, you make it sound like it’s the clubs fault we’re only entitled to a few hundred tickets. I get you’re deeply unhappy about everything Col U at the moment, but surely they’re not responsible for AFC Sudbury’s capacity? Look on the bright side chap, organise a BBQ, have a few bangers (and bangers) on bonfire night, drink some real ale with mates and enjoy watching the U’s for free on the Beeb.

Our record in the Essex Senior Cup and F A Cup against similar lowly sides is dire. Much depends upon what our failed Director of Football will instruct Mullins to do.

Many Usual members are exiles. They perhaps can't imagine how things have changed at the now utterly soul less Jobserve. My despair Wessex is that without a Smart Phone, you can't even access the club shop, which had been devoid of stock for months. I know of fans that are now reliant on the assistance of others simply to obtain their tickets as they don't have a computer. Some, unsteady on their feet, are being allocated seats at the back and they feel that they can't safely descend the steep narrow steps. Stewards have belatedly been instructed to redirect folk to more comfortable seats, but fans are already staying away. I am in a "bubble" of pals, yet we don't get allocated six seats together. All of these new technology measures have been justified as making the stadium "contactless and covid safe" but staffing levels might suggest it is largely cost cutting and discriminating towards the elderly.

Frankly, seat allocation is no longer a problem as now as it has become sit where you like as the South Stand attendances have declined. But many of my elderly pals have already given up and are staying away, and are being stubborn as a protest. There is no catering until you get through the turnstiles (what has happended to the external bars, Hot Shots and burger concessionaries?). With the East Stand concourse still occupied by the NHS, only limited catering is available under the South Stand. Queues are ridiculous. Even the public address system and music has failed and the Harrogate Manager was justified in his critique of the stadium ambience albeit no excuse for defeat. It is a long a walk from Mill Road bus stops for the elderly and frankly, the match day experience is terrible. All of this is easily remedied.

Maybe Cowling will be proved right if we do go back into lockdown, but I suspect that will simply mean football behind closed doors and no fans again. Hence, we might as well revert to business as usual in the interim, just like 91 other clubs in the Football Leagues. But he stubbornly won't. Our club is hence dying a death by a thousand cuts. Contrast this with the warm welcome we will get tomorrow in the Port Vale fans bar. Hope to catch up if you make the trip.

Actually this fixture could be the must expensive ticket bought to watch the U’s given the TV license is £159 !

Poll: No half measure either 1 or 2 ?

Compared to what we see at the away games the match-day experience is sadly lacking. Who should be organising the half-time under-8's kickabouts ? Why can't fix the PA ?

I've managed a theatre and cinema, and I know that there are enough sound specialists around to fix the PA issue - the amp obviously works as the announcements are made. Is it we haven't paid the performing rights licence ? Marks Tey Radio are only just up the road - they do all the music and announcements at large local outside events so have the equipment and expertise.

I also know that if you stage a show (like an under-8's half-time kickabout) you get their mums and dads, and grandparents attending to watch their "big day". More bums on seats.

It's safe to go under the East Stand to get a programme or have a wee - surely it's safe to set up an urn and sell teas/coffees at least ? If it's about cutting costs why not (at least) invite the Saturday burger van who parks on the approach road to site themselves outside the East Stand and open the doors at half-time. When I ran outside events we'd get a minimum 10-20% of the take from casual traders.

We feel at the moment like a club which is lacking direction. Robbie's attention is probably quite rightly directed to keeping his core businesses afloat but unless someone takes a grip on the U's experience he'll just need to pour more money in.
