Week 5 results

BIRMINGHAM CITY 3 BRISTOL CITY 0

Resurgent Birmingham made it three wins in as many games with this comfortable win. Nobody got this spot-on, but 15 did have the outcome.

COVENTRY CITY 1 SWANSEA CITY 2
Coventry lose their unbeaten home record as they fail to recover from going two goals down in the first 12 minutes. Only 2 predicted a win for Swansea, and they both got it spot-on. 18 predicted a win for Coventry with 11 going for a 2-1 in what was the weeks most predicted score.

LUTON TOWN 3 MIDDLESBROUGH 1
Luton came from behind to win it with three goals in five second-half minutes. Middlesbrough manager Neal Warnock took charge of his 1,602nd game in league management, to beat former Crewe boss Dario Gradi's mark, Warnock had never suffered defeat in 12 previous meetings against Luton with all his previous clubs. Nobody got this spot-on, though 15 did have the outcome.

MILLWALL 1 READING 0
A second-half Benik Afobe goal saw Millwall continue their good form in the Championship. Reading failed to register a shot on target. A massive 9 had this spot-on, and a further 7 got the outcome.

PETERBOROUGH UNITED 1 HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 1
Jonson Clarke-Harris' late header rescued a point for Peterborough in Darren Ferguson's 500th game in charge at Peterborough. Just the 2 got this spot-on, and 2 also had the outcome.

CREWE ALEXANDRA 1 DONCASTER ROVERS 1
The League One basement clubs have to settle for a draw from a poor quality game, with both facing a long hard winter. 3 had this spot-on, and 1 more got the outcome.

FLEETWOOD TOWN 2 WIGAN ATHLETIC 3
Wigan came from two goals down to win it with three goals in ten second-half minutes, to take them back to the top of League One, following six consecutive away wins. Another game with no spot-on, but 20 did have the outcome.

MORECAMBE 0 CAMBRIDGE UNITED 2
A second straight win for Cambridge, as struggling Morecambe can only muster one shot on target. No 3 pointer for anybody here, though 3 did get the outcome.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 3 SUNDERLAND 0
A third consecutive defeat for Sunderland, and they have conceded 8 goals in their last two away games. Yet another game with no 3 pointer, but 8 did have the outcome.

WYCOMBE WANDERERS 1 IPSWICH TOWN 4
Ipswich bring an end to Wycombe's 100% home record with this thrashing, as Macauley Bonne gets his 11th goal this season. A final game this week with no 3 pointer, though 10 did get the outcome.

After a promising start to this competition, midweek games have become as difficult to predict as the Saturday ones. With six games failing to produce a 3 pointer, it was only Millwall's 1-0 win from the other four, that saved this round of games from being a complete washout. That win achieved over half of the total 16 spot-ons, but at least the total 81 outcomes made sure everyone got some points. There is no doubt about who the weeks top performer was. After having many high scoring efforts in the Happy League, basher2010 has now done it in the midweek version, He was the only one to get three 3 pointers, the draws at Peterborough and Crewe, and the Millwall 1-0. With four outcomes, he is the weeks top scorer, with a brilliant 13 points. All the more praiseworthy after such a difficult set of results to predict. Those points moved him up a big eleven places into third. Two members did well to have two 3 pointers, they were oxfcolu, who had the wins for Swansea and Millwall, on his way to getting an excellent 10 points, and Madeira163, who got the Millwall 1-0 and the Crewe 1-1, to give him a decent 7 points.
After getting the Millwall 1-0 spot-on mfb_cufc remains top for the fourth week running, without the help of a tie-breaker this week. Five outcomes for BFG moves him up a place to second. Four outcomes for RSCOSWORTH, and he drops to fourth, but there is sttill only 3 points separating the top 4. Thanks to the exploits of basher2010, gerry_us, concordman, durham_exile and unitedwhites all drop a place, but remain in the qualifying places for the knockout stage. The decent week for Madeira163 moves him up six places, and within a point of the qualifying places. As for the rest of the league the biggest rise came from MrHappy2 who moved up eight places.
We are now at the halfway stage in qualifying for the knockout stage, and it is fair to say almost anybody could still qualify.

THE TABLE (50 out of 100 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
