Week 22 results

LEICESTER CITY v NORWICH CITY POSTPONED
Covid

WATFORD 0 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 1
Toottenham get a 96th minute winner, as they take their unbeaten run in the league to eight since Conte became manager, and condemn Watford to a club record-equalling sixth consecutive top-flight defeat. Well done to thrillseeker for being the only one to get this spot-on, and a further 25 had the outcome, with 11 going for a 2-0 in what was the weeks most predicted score.

BLACKPOOL 1 HULL CITY 0
Gary Madine's first-half penalty lifted Blackpool into the top half of the Championship table. A great 8 had this spot-on, and another 13 got the outcome.

COVENTRY CITY v LUTON TOWN POSTPONED Covid

BURTON ALBION 4 CREWE ALEXANDRA 1
Burton cruised to victory over struggling Crewe. Nobody got this spot-on, but 21 did have the outcome.

CHARLTON ATHLETIC 0 WYCOMBE WANDERERS 1
Wycombe were again without isolating manager Gareth Ainsworth as Sam Vokes' seventh goal of the season secured victory. Only 2 had this spot-on, and a further 5 got the outcome.

OXFORD UNITED 1 CHELTENHAM TOWN 1
After Matty Taylor missed a penalty, Oxford needed a goal from Mark Sykes to rescue a point. 3 got this spot-on, and one more had the outcome. 22 predicted a win for Oxford.

ROTHERHAM UNITED 2 BOLTON WANDERERS 1
Michael Smith scored a brace as Rotherham returned to winning ways and the top of the table with a narrow League One victory. A superb 10 had this spot-on, and another 11 got the outcome.

BARROW 1 BRADFORD CITY 2
Lee Angol and Andy Cook scored as Bradford end a seven-game winless run in League Two. A super 6 got this spot-on, and a further 8 had the outcome.

HARROGATE TOWN v PORT VALE POSTPONED Covid

HARTLEPOOL UNITED 0 OLDHAM ATHLETIC 0
Oldham are now winless in seven, and remain rooted to the foot of the League Two table after this bore draw. Nobody had this spot-on, and only 2 got the outcome. 21 predicted a win for Hartlepool.

SALFORD CITY v TRANMERE ROVERS POSTPONED Covid

SCUNTHORPE UNITED 0 CARLISLE UNITED 1
Centre-half Rod McDonald scored his first goal in nearly five years as Carlisle put daylight between themselves and the League Two relegation zone with victory at their fellow strugglers. Nobody got this spot-on, though 4 did have the outcome.

SUTTON UNITED 2 EXETER CITY 1
Rob Milsom's 89th minute penalty fired Sutton United into the League Two automatic promotion places. That late goal was good news for the 6 who had this spot-on, and the other 3 who got the outcome.

SWINDON TOWN 5 NORTHAMPTON TOWN 2
Striker Harry McKirdy scored four goals as Swindon ran riot. Nobody got this spot-on, but 8 did have the outcome.

With only nine games postponed in England, it is disappointing we had four of them, but the eleven games left more than made up for it. After a season of unpredictable results, it was good to finally have a week going very much to form. In fact it was by a long way the best week of the season so far with 36 spot-ons. With four members getting three 3 pointers, there was a keen contest to be the weeks top scorer. In the end the honour had to be shared by concordman, who had the wins for Blackpool, Rotherham and Sutton, and ghughes11, who had the 2-1 wins for Rotherham, Bradford City and Sutton. They both also had four outcomes to give them a brilliant 13 points. Just losing out were Blue4U2, who got the Oxford 1-1 and the wins for Rotherham and Bradford City, and BFG, who got the wins for Blackpool, Wycombe and Sutton. They both also had three outcomes to give them an excellent 12 points. There were five members who did well to have two 3 pointers, the best of which was TheFatGooner, who got the 1-0 wins for Blackpool and Wycombe, and thrillseeker, who had the Rotherham 2-1 to go with the good Tottenham 1-0. They both also got four outcomes to give them a very decent 10 points. A special mention for Lewis_1, who had the Rotherham 2-1 spot-on, and an incredible eight outcomes to give him a magnificent 11 points.

Happy Cup A reminder to those who have yet to post their predictions, the quarter-finals take place next Saturday 8th January.

Champions League With four games being postponed, the requisite number required for qualification was not reached this week, so qualification will now definitely be after Week 23, no matter how many games are played. Just to confirm concordman has already qualified as the current holder. The other qualifiers will be the eleven highest point scorers over the two divisions. The member currently in that important eleventh spot is thrillseeker with his 84 points. But that is only on the tie-breaker rule from three others, and another seven are within 5 points of that total, so qualification is certainly going to the wire, and first to post could be vital.

In the Premier This division has been very stable all season, with very little change, but it exploded into life this week, with those in the bottom half getting big points, to really compact things. There is also a new leader, as the decent week for TheFatGooner took him to the top for the first time since Week 5 last season. He brings an end to the 18 week reign at the top for RSCOSWORTH, but he will still be heartened by the fact he has an 11 point gap back to the third unitedwhites. Remaining in the final Super Cup place is mfb_cufc, but only just, as the top scoring performance from concordman moved him up four places, into the top half for the first time this season, and to within a point of the top four. A decent 8 points for Sector4 moves him back into the top half for the first time since Week 9. After being the only one not to get a 3 pointer in this division Daniel drops four places. The top scoring performance from ghughes11 was enough to get him out of the bottom three for the first time since Week 6. A decent 8 points for sevebalo was not enough to stop him going into the relegation zone for the first time this season. But with the league the most compact I have ever known at this stage of the season, he is only 4 points from third. After getting a decent 9 points noah4x4 will be disappointed to find he is point further from safety than he was last week. The excellent week for Blue4U2 will also disappoint him that he only reduced the deficit to safety by only a point.

In Division One The magnificent week for Lewis_1 takes him back to the top, after five weeks away. But it is only on the most 3 pointer rule from Pinault_Noir, as last weeks leader has to settle for the other automatic spot. Five outcomes for blueeagle as he drops to third. Having the wins for Blackpool and Sutton spot-on, to give him a decent 9 points, moves Tropical_us up a place to fourth. After being sixth for the past seven weeks gerry_us moves up a place to fifth. Four outcomes were enough to keep wessex_exile in the final play-off place. A decent 9 points for burnsieespana, that included having the Oxford 1-1 and the Rotherham 2-1 spot-on, moved him to within 4 points of the play-offs. The excellent week for BFG moved him up a couple of places to a season high eighth. They both greatly enhanced their chances of qualifying for the Champions League. The decent week for thrillseeker moved him up three places, to give him hope of still making the play-offs. The final member to have two 3 pointers this week was bwildered, the 2-1 wins for Rotherham and Bradford City, as the decent 8 points improved his chances of avoiding a first season wooden spoon.

THE TABLES (156 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
