Cracking result for Liverpool, surely one foot already in the semi-finals. Less so for Man City's narrow 1-0 home win over Atletico Madrid, clearly facing a difficult second leg to come in Spain.
Good news, everyone is off the mark with points on the board, and hats off to RSCOSWORTH for picking up the only 3-pointer tonight. Otherwise, it's all very close at the moment, but an impassioned reminder to Tropical_Us that having missed out on a point tonight with the Man City home win, your Chelsea 2 Real Madrid 1 prediction needs amending if you want it to count. So the Champions League quarter-final first legs have been completed, with the results as follows:

I've already commented on yesterday's results, with Liverpool taking a commanding lead and Man City definitely less so. Russian apologists Chelski fared far worse, losing their home leg 3-1 to an imperious Real Madrid, and look (hopefully) like they're going out. Villarreal take a slender lead into the second legs against Bayern Munich, but the German machine look odds on to go through at this rate.
As far as the U'sual Champions League is concerned, it's all very close in both groups, with precious few points acquired tonight from results which largely bucked the trend as far as UCL predictions were concerned.
Group 1
It really couldn't be closer, with burnsieespana leading the group by just one point thanks to getting an impressive three outcomes out of four for the first legs. However, blueeagle, gerry_us and TheFatGooner are all equal second with two outcomes each.
Group 2
Although there were no points scored in the group tonight, credit to RSCOSWORTH for leading the group on four points, including the only spot-on prediction so far in the quarter-finals for his Man City 1-0 home win. Yours truly just about holds on to the second qualifying place with two outcomes from Tuesday night, though only by one point with Tropical_Us and BFG just one point behind.
As a reminder, yellow highlight is a permitted exact match, but red is one that must be changed. Too late for Tropical_Us this week unfortunately, but do take note TheFatGooner for the second legs next week...and indeed all of you yet to predict the second legs.
