Hmmm, football legend - absolutely. The right 'profile' for the club, maybe less so as far as I'm concerned, but if he's the public face of a more wealthy consortium behind him, let's see.
Good news just as long as he doesn't interfere too much with the playing side. I've been surprised he's never landed a manager/head-coach job anywhere. I'd have liked to see him given an opportunity but not at Colchester when the best managerial team in League Two are already there.

There for now. Ex England international with the badges would not want to be sitting in the stands . Return to the Texo blue kit .

I believe he's been assistant at Villa and Leicester and recently an Academy coach at Chelsea, so he obviously has a taste for management.
If it's a bunch of dickhead yanks with money that are thinking of parachuting in a celebrity manager i.e. 'Rooney style' then they can farck off as far as I'm concerned.
Whereas, if he's genuinely interested in club ownership and has some British backing then it's most welcome news. Only time will tell.
Either way, as Wessex says, Mister 'Non-disclosure, Undisclosed Fee' isn't likely to be too chuffed with it all over the papers unless he's already trousered the readies. In which case, thank you, you did your best, have a happy retirement.

Chin up old boy, it's not often we get one over Ipshite.
Not too sure what to make of it all, but this statement feels that the deal is more down the line than both of the previous takeovers we have had a statement about. RC being this tight-lipped in who is involved is interesting and nods towards NDA's being signed, whereas the previous statements named the consortiums and persons involved.
Looking at what's in the media, it would point to Terry taking more of an upstairs role than a management role imo. Have horrible visions of he and Jody Morris on the touchline, but hopefully they see sense to leave the Cowley's doing what they do best, they are arguably the best things to happen to us in some time.

Oh Jesus, me and my dyslexia!
I though you said John Terry and Jodie Marsh on the touchline!!!!!
It'll be interesting to see if a deal goes through - if he gives Danny & Nicky a decent budget we could be rivalling York City next season (assuming they win promotion back to L2)
Potential stumbling block for any buyer must obviously be the financial dealing, with the Chairman trying to recapture has much of his debt has he thinks reasonable possible. However Florence Park training facility must be a worry for any purchaser, rent to be payed to the chairman, unless negotiated over a long period, the location could easily be redeveloped. Would any new consortium be prepared to relocate the training facility ? All pure conjecture of course .

RC wanted to relocate the training ground himself after buying the land at Forrester Park.
Let's not forget a lot of the debt with the club is RC's debts as a tax offset. He always said he'd leave the club in a better condition so he must be willing to write off some of those debts as I believe the club was relatively debt free when he took over.
The training ground is an interesting one, no one knows what is included in the deal, but you'd think if RC was smart he'd keep hold of that and rent it to the club. Not sure it'll be too much of a sticking point at the present time.
Listening to DC on the radio last night, it did trouble me that he mentioned good times around the corner for the club and fans but didn't make any noise about whether he was a part of it. I sincerely hope he is!

I think you are spot on, on your first point, but there’s maybe a third scenario for your second point.
If you buy a house or a car, you pay what it’s worth to you, not what someone else has spent/wasted/pretended to spend on it?
Image if someone bought a house 20 years ago for £100k and spent another £100k on a new kitchen, bathroom, windows etc. Then, pathetic as it sounds, year after year in their head, they charged themselves interest on the money they spent, so they now kid themselves they’ve spent £800k in total. The debt or pretend debt is completely irrelevant to what someone will pay, but it’s still going to sting if it’s buzzing around their head and it could take a little time to come to terms with the loss.
A L2 football club that doesn’t own any significant assets and doesn’t have much hope of breaking even, is probably worth £4-5M I guess. So if the £14M is anywhere near accurate, surely that must include the use of the training ground for at least some specified time?
I think we are getting to the crux of what is wrong with football in 2026 (and the world). Years ago, most clubs (and other businesses) were owned by local people and they were more akin to guardians, than investors. Think back to Heard, Powell, Worsp et al. they certainly had the appearance of people that were looking after the club for the next generation.
Fast forward to the world today and everything’s about money. Businesses are run by CEO’s bleeding everything dry so they get their massive bonus. They don’t give a shit about the future.
Are any foreign moneybags ‘investors’ going to care about Col U in 10-20 years time? As long as they have the use of a training ground while they have their fun for say 10 years, why would they care about the long-term future, it’s going to be someone else’s problem.
If they buy a racehorse, are they thinking about what is going to happen to that horse when they’ve had their fun and it can no longer run?

Hopefully, if it goes through, everyone will gel and work together, but it is hard to see that happening, which is a shame.
At least they got a very long contract out of RC, so they may end up sailing off with pockets overflowing, straight into a better job. Either way, they deserve legendary status for navigating us through the last couple of years.
As for JT (or Marmite as he should be called), it seems a third are wetting themselves about the idea, a third are not impressed at all and the remainder are cautiously optimistic.
I've long since come to the conclusion that decent people around the world have surrendered to 'do-as-you-likies' and anyone with a functioning moral compass just has to lump it nowadays.
I take comfort in the fact that it's not Mr Barton and I'm mildly excited and open minded about the whole situation.
Like DC/NC he is a winner and it's about time we had some excitement.

I so hope York fail to get promotion again.
Last season they chuffed it up big time and listening to their owner just before their first play-off match, banging on about how long they were going to have to wait until the final at Wembley. They never even got there.
Next thing she's trying to change the rules to suit York!

I personally think that if JT does buy the club, he will leave coaching duties to the Cowley's. However he may have a say on transfers which hopefully will simply be an agreement between all 3 and the scouting staff.

Pretty much as it is now then I really, in so much as Robbie doesn't necessarily contribute on specifically who to look at, but will make the final commercial decision. The point was also made during yesterdays broadcast that one would expect JT to have significant contacts where promising youngsters are concerned.

As Noah will point out, we don't want hoards of non-league standard grounds in the EFL thank you.
So let's keep the rules as they are, bloody f@r@#gn@rs.

The fact that madam didn’t think to send the letter when York had an enormous lead earlier in the season, is laughable enough, but the double-barrelled first name lost me.
Have some respect for society, pick one name and stick to it. One name is enough for most of us, in fact most of us get our names shortened, Ant, Dan, Sam, Debs etc. So why are some people so special that they need two full names? Can you imagine the waste of time/ink/oxygen if we all went around being pretentious tvvatts.

My guess, for what it’s worth, is that the £14m figure quoted is for Florence Park, the development land near Florence Park and Forrester Park. It would make sense as the hospitality business has very roughly £9m of development land on its balance sheet. £9m + Florence Park + Forrester Park? Would make sense as the idea was to move to Forrester Park due to restrictions on use of Florence Park due to the houses around it. Would make some sense if all of it was being sold together as it’s all interlinked, and would explain the fact it’s been suggested someone is paying money for us when the reality is the football club itself is worth nothing.
