Considering he cost a nominal fee and scored us a number of goals before leaving for, hopefully, a much bigger fee you can't really argue with the decision and ultimately it's a positive one for the club. It does make you wonder about the academy though and I imagine it would be far more economical to start with the U18's team and have nothing below that. It's almost as if the younger age groups are more of a community service as we're seeing very few players breakthrough to the first team that have been with us since they were boys rather than young men like Lisbie, Tovide, Thorn and Junior. Was Chilvers the last one to really deliver for the first team having played most of his academy football here?

Good luck to him sounds like a good move all round. Hopefully now this is done we will have some extra money to bring in for some new players. We still have the younger Lisbie hopefully he will get some first team game time next season. I think Smods was with the Academy at a young age but I totally get the point. I have always thought it more cost effective to run from u18 and pickup kids let go by Prem Clubs but maybe there is some kind of grant for working with younger age groups?
