Guernsey Update (n/t) 14:47 - Oct 16 with 5894 viewsMadeira163

Following promotion last season Guernsey have carried on where they left off.

They currently sit in 2nd place in the combined counties Premier division
although they have 24 points from 9 games. The leaders Egham town have 27 from 12 so Guernsey look well placed.
The break down so far is won 8 lost 1 with 38 goals scored and 8 conceded.

This year they entered the FA Vase and have just made it to the 2nd round proper but have been draw against unbeaten Erith Town from the Kent League and apparently one of the strongest teams in the competion.

Next year they enter the FA cup, lets hope they make it to the 1st round proper and draw the U's at home !!!!(a club from the C/C prem is one game from first round this year (playing Met Police in final qualifying round)

gsy163 - the updates have disappeared.

I was up in Spalding yesterday and noticed a FA Vase poster mentioning Guernsey on 09/02/2013

Sorry for slacking
Work and planning wedding in Madeira in May have taken over, which looks like meaning the first year since 1979, I will not see the boys play Colchester that is.
Anyway Guernsey are indeed due to play Spalding in the fifth round of the Vase not bad in their first try in the competition.

However due to waterlogged pitches and success in cup competitions their CCPL programme has been somewhat ruined with so many games called off they will be playing 2 sometimes 3 times a week to till the end of May.

As it stands they are in sixth place having played 16 games and have 39 points.
The leaders Egham town have 54 points from 23 games. So in theory they could be 6 points clear if they win all games in hand. But none playing rust caused a defeat the other day.

Still hoping for a Guernsey v Colchester Fa cup tie in 2 years !!!!

All boarders welcome to evening do if you in Madeira in May

Regards Guernsey

gsy163 - I noticed the result. What an achievement

The 6th round did you no favours with a trip to either Runcorn/ Walsall Wood/ Hanworth Villa depending on how their matches play out

Shame you didn't get Hadleigh United away as would have probably popped along to watch it.

I see Ross Allen is still scoring. I'm surprised no one has taken a look at him and at least offered him a trial. I appreciate the level of football being played but he definitely has an eye for goal

Great updates on Guernsy and super to see a new team/name moving up the pyramid as this is really what football is about!
On a sadder note for a small team, here in my village, our team has just folded due to lack of money due to the recession, etc.
They were heavily funded by the Town Hall and with huge cuts in budgets taking place across the country they had no chance.
Hopefully next year they will reform and re-enter the Spanish pyramid.

A confusing draw for the two leg semi final:

Ifs and buts - first leg:
Walsall Wood or Guernsey v Spennymoor Town
Tunbridge Wells v Shildon or Ascot United

Spennymoor are battling it out with Darlington for the Northern League Division One title.

Up the U's

Darlington show you how far you can fall with poor management.

I've matching the progress of Guernsey since you started this thread and fear as already mentioned the ultimate goal of promotion will be lost due to fixture backlog so I'm hoping you achieve a victory in FA Vase

Am I right in saying Guernsey are looking at moving to a new stadium?

gsy 163 - reading in today's local newspaper about your opponents Spennymoor Town. 40 loyal supporters have made the journey to Guernsey, one of the players paid one supporter £50 of his own money towards his travelling expenses.

Good Luck

the final score was?

3-1 to Spennymoor in front of a record crowd of 4,290 at Footes Lane.

Remember it is over two legs, but Spennymoor must now be favourites.

Tunbridge Wells lead 2-0 against Shildon after the first leg.
