Almost pay the penalty . 21:10 - Dec 2 with 576 views | bwildered | U's progressed last night in the Senior Cup against Canvey with a penalty shoot out . Unable to convert several decent chances the U's fell behind from failing to clear free kick, at close range and are behind at half time . Sammie Szmodics scores two to put the U's in front but between the strikes the visitors have a player sent off. Unable to dictate play in the closing stages with a man advantage, the U's concede and the visitors have another player depart the action. The penalty shootout reaches sudden death number seven when the visitors rattle the crossbar to go through . The question is, if the penalties had reached number ten would the U's gone through due to the visitors not having another on field player to take a penalty ?

If one team has gone down to nine players and it's a penalty shootout then the opposing team also has to go down to nine players for the course of the shootout.

Yep, it became 9 versus 9, else Canvey would have an advantage when it got to the tenth penalty with their best penalty takers back in the frame before ours. Poor U's performance. The youngsters need to learn it's a team game. and pass more often when in the final third. Too many looked like Dominic Vose; hence beating three players then losing the ball. I think they arrogantly thought they could run rings around a well organised Canvey side, and we did that in the first half to some extent, but Canvey took the lead after a single shot (goal mouth scramble) and grew into the game. The referee was shocking, but it didn't justify the aggression and foul mouthed tirades from Canvey players. If that is what referees have to put up with in lower leagues, they need a medal. It was shameful. .
Almost pay the penalty . on 17:30 - Dec 3 with 504 views | bwildered | Wide men where most wasteful, with not enough end produce. After getting the lead, did not make the ball do the work enough when in possession . Looks like the time Sammie Szmodics had at Braintree was well spent though, has he looked our most valuable player, Looking at Regis who came on has sub, got the build to be a decent centre half .
