Although made his name has a Tractorboy, did play for the U's thereafter. Think he also opened the bowling for Col & EE . A true allround sportsman .
RIP

Sad to hear. Always remember him putting me in the back of the net while still holding the ball from a corner when playing against him in a testimonial.
A character who will be sadly missed.

RIP Ted Phillips.
A little storey about the man who I believe was a Colchester person but in 1957 as a 11 year old boy I travelled from Colchester to Ipswich by train. Ted was often on the afternoon train home and always talked to me and another boy of the same age and I put those chats of long ago down to my love of football. The man was a true gent and never told us to go away or anything similar always having time for us two lads.
