Saints At Sheffield United The Verdict

Sadly Sheff U are another physical, long ball team that is dragging down the quality of "the best league in the world".

I'm pretty sure they'll get relegated and part of me hopes that they will. We pay to see football not out-of-control physical players raking their studs down the shins of far more talented players. The ew moments of attractive football they played does not out-weigh the raw fact that they are not a very good team worthy of the Premier League.

I bet Adams hoped he had left all of that behind him.

Good accurate report Nick. Well done.

I'm not sure Redmond should be a shoe-in when he's fit again. On the basis of Saturday's match, a happy rejuvenated Boufal and the young emerging talent of Djenepo are in my view both potentially better than him. Had Redmond been as prolific a goal-scorer as say Sterling then he would deserve to be an automatic starter by right now for me he doesn't score enough goals for all the fancy running around that he does.

The jury must be out on him and Hutch has shown that he doesn't give a toss about reputation or offending players by leaving them out when the mood takes him. Hence we have the Bertrand situation. Why Adam doesn't ask him the direct question afterwards we'll never know.

Of course most of us are very happy that Sofiane and Cedric have been re-integrated in to the squad and they seem to be delighted as well. Maybe all that expenditure was not wasted as many critics have moaned last year. It would have cost us one hell of a lot of money to buy in their quality, determination and loyalty

Will be nicer to watch Sky than be there and have to listen to an evening of foul abuse being hurled from one side to the other. Hopefully they can suppress or filter out all that "Your are watching **** ***" stuff that monosyllabic morons chant incessantly.

The omission of Bertrand yet again is a concern. If he's being shut out by Hutch because of a spat over his substation at Brighton then shame on the manager for being so bloody petty minded. I'd hoped he was m such bigger than that.

Fair report Nick. Agree, Romeu MotM by a country mile. Mike Dean totally out-of-sorts with many strange decisions. VAR is supposed to sort out red card issues but wasn't used to check that first booking which looked unfairly harsh to me. Was it because he is big and looks mean?

Boufal to be fair had his first start for over a year so certainly isn't match for for 90 mins. He needs some time in the team to settle and a little patience from the manager. He did show us a few moments of magic that no other player on the pitch could hope to match. We need a truly unpredictable creative player like him to unlock doors.

Cedric did OK also for a second start but he has to remember to get touch tight on his man and not stand off him for too long. Quite rightly he was trying to channel James to the outside but giving him a yard of space allowed the Man U youngster to cut back inside to use his right foot. Touch tight and James could not have done that.

We could spend several years discussing the short-comings of James Ward Drosse but with luck he'll be retired before then.

Should Sofiane Boufal Stay Or Go ?
at 12:28:17

We should stop speculating over Sofiane Boufal's future here. He is probably the most gifted player on the ball we have. Talent like his needs to be nurtured and honed by a coach who is competent enough to recognise his talent and develop young players.

We have not seen anywhere near the best from the lad simply because of useless prats like Puel & Pellegrino wanting a finished article to bale them out of trouble. As for Hughes and his old school "get rid of it" approach to football, say no more.

I admire the way the lad has settled down, worked hard and forced his way back into the squad rather than have become a sulky wanna-way moaning on the fringes. His attitude in trying is inspiring and his smiles tell you all you need to know.

I for one have never angled for the club to sell Boufal and was angered and frustrated by Hughes' attitude towards him. When Hughes sent him away I was spitting blood and don't remember too many other real fans being that happy about it when we kept playing donkeys like Ward Drosse.

Djenepo gets swooning praise from Hutch, Boufal gets grudging praise after being asked. Weird.

Anything to do with Djenepo being a Rabbit Hutch signing? Couldn't be could it. How much better will Sofiane have to be to get a start over Redmond & Djenepo? Makes your blood boil when Boufal's talent shouts from the roof tops yet gets ignored.

Saints V Liverpool The Verdict
at 13:40:09

I agree with most of your report Nick. It is customary to blame one of our CBs for our defeat - in this match an unforced error by Bednarek leading to a goal but I think there were more gross errors by attackers that led to this defeat that somehow these get overlooked.

Adams heading over from 8 yds when unmarked and it would have bee easier to score

Ings missing an open goal for a tap in from Valery's cross late-on.

Huge errors at this level yet it is always our CBs who get labelled as" not PL class" or "Championship level at best". On Saturday the strikers were far more guilty of letting the side down and more deserving of these epithets.

Ralph Talks Ahead Of Liverpool Game
at 12:41:38

Last Saturday's match was a six-pointer so typically we bottled it. This weekend we have nothing to lose, anything we get is a bonus.

These are the mind sets Hutch needs to change and he isn't doing very we'll at it at the moment considering he is always talking about getting into the heads of players to get their attitudes right.

Contempt for lesser teams and being in awe of big teams will not get us anywhere. Get out there and play our game and not let other teams grab the initiative.
