Well, the rumours gather apace and stretch the boundaries of reality, like the Chris Martin rumour.

The latest is that Paul Lambert is going to receive a £2.5m budget that he has earmarked for West Brom defender, 20 year old Joe Mattock.

Rotherham striker, Adam Le Fondre and Torquay midfielder Eunan O'Kane are also said to be targets, as well as extending the loan of Henri Lansbury until May.

Another has it that Lambert is chasing Dundee striker Leigh Griffiths, Inverness striker, Adam Rooney and Leeds' striker David Somma, as well as the Lansbury loan extension.

In the case of the last paragraph, chasing three strikers when back up is required at both left and right back seems puzzling.

These are all from the same Rumours site and have as much credibility as an eleven shilling note.

Although if Mourinho is going to pay £4m for Chris Martin, perhaps we can splash out on all of these untried players at this level.
