Refwatch Preview: Morecambe (a) Thursday, 16th Oct 2008 06:04 Carl Boyeson will be the match official for the game at Morecambe this weekend, so we look back at his chequered past at refereeing Dale games.
The ‘TVOS Theory of Yorkshire Referees’ will be put to the test on Saturday when we have a Yorkshire official (forget all this Humberside nonsense) in charge at Morecambe.
Carl Boyeson is the man in the middle at Christie Park and over the years he has proved himself to be one of the least popular referees among Dale fans.
However, we saw Mr Boyeson twice last season and his performances were fairly acceptable.
He was in the middle for our 1-1 draw at Darlington in October, where his only major indiscretion was a booking for Alfie, who allegedly dived despite being clearly clattered by the home goalkeeper.
Carl also turned up at Bradford in February, where we were too busy laughing at Matt Clarke’s own goal and Alfie’s last minute winner to notice much about the referee’s display.
This will be Mr Boyeson’s 11th game in charge of Dale since joining the league list in 2002.
