Redfearn calls for one last effort from his squad
Redfearn calls for one last effort from his squad

Neil Redfearn is trying to raise his team for tomorrow’s game against Doncaster Rovers, but admits that he doesn’t know what is in store for him at the end of his temporary spell in charge of the club.

He’s certainly been talking the talk on the official website. "The most important thing is that we put a performance on, make things difficult for them and beat them. We've had two good results against Doncaster already this season and a third will push us back up there after what has been a frustrating week. The players here have always responded to setbacks in the past and that's what I will be looking for from them on Saturday."

But after two defeats in the past week, it’s no surprise that nobody at the club has spoken to him about his keeping the job on a permanent basis. He told the Yorkshire Post "I've not spoken to them about my situation. We've discussed one or two things with regards to tomorrow but that's it. If it's someone else, good luck to them and I'll wish them all the best. Hopefully I'll have got the club in a position where they've got a platform to progress from”. I can’t imagine him getting the job now, but he is still highly regarded, and I hope he can at least go back to his old position at the youth academy.

One piece of team news for tomorrow is that Leeds will be without Fabian Delph, who limped off at Coventry on Tuesday after a heavy tackle. He has returned to his parent club for a further assessment on his an ankle injury, which may mean that we might not get him back, as his loan period expires a week tomorrow after the Portsmouth game. Redfearn hopes he will be back in a matter of days, and said “He's a big influence and he'll be a big loss.”

Although Doncaster are rooted to the bottom of the table, their boss Dean Saunders is also sounding cheerful, and his side know all about the problems Leeds are facing. He told his clubs official site "We're making chances and the team's functioning well, we can't get down in the dumps, all we've got to do is not let it drag us down and get back when we take on Leeds. Leeds is a great club with great support, but you never know as they're in between managers. If we turn up and play the way we can then we're going to give anyone a game”.

Donny’s survival hopes have been boosted by Portsmouth’s ten point deduction, which now leaves them only one point from safety. He has set his side a target of eight more wins for Rovers to ensure survival and said "We want to stay up this year, build for next year, wipe the slate clean and have a proper pre-season, so Doncaster can go forward and go for the play-offs," said Saunders.” Tomorrow he will have Martin Woods and Fabien Robert back after knee and groin injuries respectively, but defender Habib Beye serves the last of a three-game ban.

So it’s bound to be another tough game for Leeds against opponents desperate for a result, but I’m reckon we can just about scrape a win this time.
