Neil Warnock's desire to keep Ross McCormack at the club was further underlined when he gave the captains armband to the Scot for Leeds' trip to Norway.

Whether or not Ross McCormack retains the captains armband in sunny Lancashire remains to be seen? I have heard today on the grapevine that Warnock's top summer target is Craig Mackail-Smith and Warnock is eager to sign the Brighton striker for £2.2m or use McCormack and £1m to bring the ex Posh forward to Elland Road.

Like Snodgrass, I think the captaincy is merely a token gesture and McCormack will move on.

The deal has apparently been sanctioned by Leeds' new owners in waiting, who I believe have been releasing a trickle of cash to enable Warnock to sign players rather than wait for the takeover to be completed.
