We’re back in League Two which means Dale are going to receive early-season appointments from those referees in their first campaign at Football League level.

Saturday is no exception as Hartlepool-based official Tony Harrington starts his league career at Spotland for our fixture against Northampton.

Mr Harrington spent the majority of last season refereeing in the Blue Square Premier League, although he did receive a League Two appointment in February.

As part of a scheme assessing referees ahead of potential promotion, he was handed the midweek fixture between Bradford and Port Vale, which ended in a fairly uneventful 1-1 draw.

Internet searching reveals very little of note about Tony, which will hopefully be the case at Spotland this weekend.
