Chainrai withdraws his bid.  Those four magical words, those innocuous 23 letters of the English language has brought a mixture of unbridled joy and utter despair hand-wringing  in the bustling south east corner of Hampshire known as Portsmouth.

As a result, like trying to spot a grain of rice in a sackful of maggots, the solution to the Pompey takeover saga is getting clearer to see today as the long-winded negotiations draw to their drama-drenched conclusion.

As readers of this blog are aware I have been no fan of Balram Chainrai and his firm Portpin’s bid to become Pompey owners for a third “reluctant” time.

I had little doubts creep in last week that Portpin would succeed, stick around to milk a years’ worth of parachute payments before then “generously” taking the fan-based Pompey Trust’s £2.75m offer for Portpin’s debenture and disappear off into the corporate Bermuda Triangle of the British Virgin Islands, never to be seen or called to account again...To read the dodgycurry's full blog click here
