Swans midfielder Ferrie Bodde says he enjoys the evil genius tag - well he thinks he does!

The summer signing from Den Haag has drawn many of the plaudits this season as the Swans have gone from just missing out on a play off place last term to storming all in front of them in building up an eleven point lead at the top of the table.

And whilst the second goal was - maybe bravely - chalked away from him yesterday he has still notched seven goals in an inspiring first season in Wales.

And that form has led to the chant - becoming more frequently heard - of Ferrie Bodde, Evil Genius, a chant that is a little mystifying to the midfielder but he is taking it with the praise that it is meant.

Speaking to the Wales on Sunday, Bodde said “I’m not sure exactly what it means but I’m sure it’s a compliment

“And I’m not sure if I look that scary because my girlfriend seems to like me!

“But I understand because in a game I can be tough but I just try and play the way I can.

“I think I’ve adjusted well and English football definitely suits my game.

“In Holland it was always about positional play and waiting for the right moment. But here if you get the ball in midfield you either have people right on you or you have more time and space to dribble because they are expecting the long ball.

“That’s the difference but I like it here, it suits me.

“I’m happy with the way I’m playing but so must everybody,” he said. “When you play well it’s because of the team. I’ve won a few man-of-the-match awards but each time I think other players could have won them, they all could.

“We have not done well just because of one or two players but because of our team and our squad.

“In Holland we have our way which is good,” he said. “But the gaffer is Spanish. We have many different nationalities and backgrounds and so far it seems to be a good mix.”
