Former Swan John Hughes has given a big thumbs up to Darryl Duffy as he prepares for his new career as a Swansea City player. Hughes who played for the Swans in the late 80s was manager at Falkirk when Duffy broke through and also had a successful spell at Celtic when he left the Vetch.
Speaking to the Western Mail, Hughes said "Darryl is the salt of the earth and a perfect striker. He has got great pace, an unbelievable attitude and he will always score goals,
"He is an absolute gem and it is players like him who make you want to come in and coach.
"With the right service, he will hit the target nine times out of 10.
"His movement is amazing and, if people play him in, he has the pace to go past defenders.
"Once he scores a few goals his confidence will soar and, if he plays regularly, he will always score you double figures in a season.
"If he isn't playing week in, week out, then he will lose confidence in front of goal. But he never let me down up here in Scotland and I'm sure it will be like that in Swansea.
"The Welsh people are great and they really look after you.
"Swansea is a brilliant footballing city and I'm sure Darryl will find it as exciting as I did. The fans there are going to like him.
"He is worth every penny of that transfer. He will score them goals and in a few years' time he will be worth a lot more." |
