Britton Remains Positive Despite Disappointment

BRITTON AMAZED AT DRAW

For the second Saturday running, the Swans were left feeling frustrated as the result didn't reflect the pattern of the game and left them with just one point from their opening six when a maximum return could well have been deserved.

The side squandered several good chances in front of goal and, combined with good goalkeeping and no luck with the bounce of the ball, it left for an irritating afternoon come 5pm.

But Britton remained upbeat after the game and believes that sides come to the Liberty to play for a point which makes it harder for the Swans "It was frustrating out there and obviously it's disappointing we didn't come away with a win," he told the Western Mail.

"But I think we played really well and all that was missing was the goal.

"It does make it difficult when a team just comes here for a point, but we are used to it.

"It happened a lot last season as well and you just have to work out ways to break them down.

"Teams will come here, shut up shop and be happy to go away with a point. But it's down to us to get the breakthroughs.

"I think we did that, but it was just a case of actually taking the chances. It wasn't like we didn't have any, we had the opportunities to win the game."

Many fans believe that it is just a matter of time before the results come with football being played the way that it is and you have to take confidence that if Forest are the favourites to win the division then outplaying them for large periods is a good sign for the future, something that Britton agrees with "I'm not sure, but, like the manager says, if we keep playing like we have in the last two league games, the points will follow.

"You can take a lot of confidence out of a performance like that though. Forest are tipped to win promotion and, if we can match-up like that against the supposed best teams in the division, then we should be OK."

Winning rave reviews for his performances in the side so far has been Angel Rangel who has put in two outstanding performances at right back and looks to be one of the buys of the summer as far as the Swans are concerned. And, as a wide player, Britton is always appreciative of those who operate the flanks with him "We are doing well together," he added.

"Angel is a good footballer and he is easy to play with.

"He gives you the ball, overlaps in attack and he is a quality defender as well.

"He makes my job easy and it's good to link up with him."

It's good to hear that nobody is getting down within the camp at the moment - it must be frustrating to have played so well in two games but not to get the points but as someone pointed out on the board yesterday, Blackpool were a good footballing side last season but took a while to get the results running. It will come together and it will come sooner rather than later. Quite possibly at Walsall this weekend.
