Gorka Pintado was getting the rave reviews last night and his manager was on the praise bandwagon himself

Pintado has been reasonably heavily backed by Swans fans to be the Championship's top scorer this season and he opened his account yesterday with a sublime finish from a Mark Gower cross to put the seal on the Swans 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest at the Liberty.

His first appearance of the season was a substitute one when he replaced Jason Scotland in the second half and the goal was the icing over what appeared to be a very positive start in Swansea colours.

The fans have had high hopes for the striker since he signed in the summer and the first goal was just the start of repaying that faith - faith that is echoed by his manager who said after yesterday's match “It’s as good a goal as you see at any level

“Other players can do that but they cost five or six million pounds.

“Gorka has already repaid his £70,000 transfer fee.

“He is hungry, he has given up everything to come here and he is desperate to win games for Swansea City. That is a recipe for success.

“It’s very difficult to find a player like him and it was well documented how hard we worked to get him because he was a special player out in Spain.

“He could be a big player in the Championship but we can’t look that far ahead.

“Gorka is completely different player to the other three strikers we have. He is very aggressive, has a good understanding of the game and, above all, is a clinical finisher.”
