Berry: Scotland Is Targeted By The Fans
Berry: Scotland Is Targeted By The Fans

Jasobn Scotland's agent has again asked for the fans to get off his player's back

Mike Berry has again found himself speaking out in defence of the Swansea City striker who added another goal to his tally this weekend against Sheffield United

Scotland has now scored 37 goals for the Swans in just 79 appearances - a strike record that you would assume most would be happy with but it seems it is still not enough for what Berry describes as "around 10 per cent of the crowd"

Speaking out in today's paper Berry said "Jason's disappointed with the negative reaction he seems to receive from a minority of the supporters.  There are groans from the first minute if he misplaces a pass.

"It's only around 10 per cent of the crowd who are constantly on his back but that's enough for them to affect the game.

"They should wait until after the match to voice their displeasure.   Instead he is targeted if nothing is going wrong for his side.   Not many strikers have the goal ratio Jason has achieved at Swansea but there's only so much abuse he can take.

"This is not a one off, the jeers started not long after he first joined the club.

"Jason loves living in the city and playing for Swansea.  He accepts there will be criticism but the level of it is not doing him or the supporters any good in the long term.

"He works his socks off, scored valuable goals and still is not given the acclaim he deserves.

"Thank goodness he has a very good manager who sees what a valuable job he does for the team."
