Paulo Sousa has hinted that he may bring a loan midfielder into the Liberty as the injury problems worsen

Guillem Bauza is the latest to find himself a victim of the injury 'curse' that seems to have struck in the opening weeks of the season having already rules Jordi Lopez, Darren Pratley and Joe Allen out of the weekend defeat to MIddlesbrough whilst Ferrie Bodde has yet to return to fitness after his injury from last season.

And with a Swans midfield looking woefully light against the former Premier League side, Sousa hinted after the game that a new face could arrive.   He told the waiting media “It’s not urgent, but I’ve always said we need new players, they are coming, I don’t doubt that.

“It’s possible we will now be getting a midfielder in on loan.

“I still believe in my players a lot and, when everyone is fit, we can be much better

“After what I saw out there, considering the difficulties we have at the moment, I need to be really confident and happy.

“Midfield is our strongest sector and, when everyone is back, the team will be a lot stronger.

“Things can be different and, if we had taken our chances, the result would have changed completely.

“If the players keep doing what they are doing, it will happen. It was just a question of luck, scoring goals at the right time, and we didn’t have that luck.

“When I look at the game, the way I see it is that it just wasn’t Swansea’s day.

“In the crucial moments, if we had scored the chances we created, the game would have been completely different.

“We were fantastic for the first 25 minutes, but then they scored from a counter-attack. In the second half we pushed them again and had two or three opportunities to score.

“But we made one small mistake and, with the quality of Middlesbrough's players, they punished us for it.

“Once the second had gone in, heads went down. It’s not easy when you make mistakes against teams of this quality.”
