Speculation increased over the weekend that the Swans are about to move for Sheffield United striker Danny Webber

Whilst some were also predicting a raid on Bramhall Lane for Billy Sharp, the name of Webber has come to the forefront as a potential target for Paulo Sousa as he looks to reverse the trend that has seen the Swans drop to the bottom of the Championship.

Webber struck 23 times in 118 appearances for the Blades following a £500,000 transfer from Watford but was released at the end of last season and is currently still a free agent.

He began his career with Manchester United and had loan spells at both Port Vale and Watford before joining the Hornets on a permanent deal.   Two years later a loan spell at Sheffield United ended with a permanent move and he was part of the Blades side that won promotion to the Premier League in 2006.

He has played for England Under 20s but in 2007 declared his desire to be considered for Wales.

There was also speculation that he watched the Swans 3-0 defeat to Middlesbrough on Saturday.
