Time to be blunt.

To be painfully blunt Saints got this wrong on all counts, team selection, tactics and substitutions, but it would be a strange team that didnt have a bad day at the office.

But the fact remains that we have a major problem at the back and its not just the fact that we need to bring in two central defenders quickly.

Chris Perry and Wayne Thomas were horrifically bad in all departments, they couldnt deal with the pace of the Town attack, they couldnt deal with the aerial threat and if that wasnt bad enough they couldnt even deal with controlling the ball ebven when under no pressure whatsoever.

But that wasnt the only problem at the back, I dont like to be too harsh on Kelvin as he did make a string of decent saves, however the old problem remains and that is that he fails to come off his line and deal with crosses into the box, obviously this was compounded by our own centre backs failing, but as the game went on Hudderfield targetted this weakness and floated the ball deep into our penalty area causing untold trouble including the scoring oof their last two goals.

To be brutally honest we have to sought out this problem otherwise we are going to struggle badly, in this division its all about dealing with crosses, a keeeper will get a dozen of them in a game, but probably only half that total in shots on target, the solution is simple, we either have to get in two central defenders to protect Kelvin, or we have to get a keeper to collect crosses.

Kelvin is a superb shot stopper as we know, he cant be faulted for this, however he will be targetted by other teams who will already have seen this weakness in our play.

Its hard to criticise at this stage in that we all know the problems that we have had, however that doesnt mean we have to brush all that goes wrong under the carpet, this isnt the official site we dont have to be diplomatic, on Saturday we had big problems, most of them were of our own making, we know Alan Pardew is trying to sort them out and we need to be patient, however we dont wantt too many days like Saturday.
