Ashley Williams returns to the Cardiff City Stadium remembering with fondness his last appearance there

The Swansea City defender was captain of hos country when Wales beat scotland 3-0 at CCS earlier this season and he hopes for similar happy memories from his trip there next Saturday for a vital league clash.

“I’ve actually got good memories from playing at the Cardiff City Stadium,” he told Wales on Sunday.

“It was one of, if not the, most enjoyable games of my career.

“So going back there is a bit strange for me. I actually like the stadium because I have got good memories there.

“There won’t be many Swansea players that can say that. But I have only played there the once and I loved that game.

“Now I just want to go back there and make new memories.

“Hopefully I can go there with the Swans and get a similar result.

“The two managers will have their say and the gaffer isn’t shy of saying something,” he said with a wry smile.

“I think that is brilliant though.

“It’s all part and parcel of football and you need the characters in the game to keep it exciting.

“We will just wait and see what people have to say over the next week.

“Of all the derbies we have had recently, this is probably the biggest one when you look at where the two teams are. It’s a massive game.

“Form doesn’t matter because it always seems that anything can happen.

“It’s very edgy and it seems that a spark can go in any minute.

“It’s the sort of game that means so much to everyone.

“I think it used to mean more to the fans than the players but, over the last few games, it means everything to the players as well.”
