Reading man Jobi McAnuff believes that Brendan Rodgers was unlucky to lose his job last season

The Swansea City man was dismissed just 21 league games into his Reading career with McAnuff also believing that Rodgers should have been given more time to turn things around.

Rodgers has since described the job as the "right job at the wrong time" but McAnuff believes different “Managers don’t get the time they should," he told the Western Mail

“That’s one of the pitfalls nowadays. But it’s a results business and sometimes people make decisions. Fortunately for us it seemed to work out last year.

“It was unfortunate for Brendan, but it’s part and parcel of the game and he’s big enough to get on with it.

“Swansea have had a good start so I’m pleased for him.

“Brendan’s a top man and someone I always got on really well with during my spells at Watford and here.

“He’s a really good guy and I wish him nothing but success, apart from on Saturday.

“Time is the key thing and it went to show just after Christmas and in January when things turned around."

McAnuff also knows what kind of game Reading can expect today from the Swans adding in “It will be a good game,” he said. “They pass the ball around well and with Brendan there it adds a bit of extra spice.

“He will be desperate to come and get a good result and it should be an entertaining game."

Scott Sinclair was also highlighted as the Swans main threat with McAnuff adding “He’s a very good player and has been on loan in the last couple of years

“That is never easy, but he knows Brendan and seems comfortable playing for him.

“He has done really well there and is someone we definitely have to look out for.”
