Ashley Williams is trying to take positives from Wales' weekend defeat to England

The Swansea City defender was part of the Wales side that lost 2-0 to England at the Millennium Stadium - conceding two goals inside the first 15 minutes.

But rather than being downbeat, Williams can draw the positives and believes that the new style will pay dividends in the future.

“Everyone can see we’ve changed the style and it was probably going to take a lot more time than just this game to put it in place,” Williams told the Western Mail

“We said before the game we wanted to be bold, try and get on the ball and control the game. We did that more than we used to so we can take a lot from this game.

“Some of our movement was good and, especially in the second half, we did really well.

“We only performed in patches but we can build on this.

“We can take a lot of positives, especially from the second half.

“England are no mugs and I’m sure if we play like that against lesser teams then we will get the wins.

“We’ve got England again in the group and by then we can each get a bit more comfortable with the style.

“I’ve really enjoyed this week.

“It has flown by instead of usually dragging.

“I’m not too down. You have to remember we tried a new style and it’s was only our first competitive game under the new manager.

“We want to pick up as many wins as we can to get higher up in the rankings but we have to look to the future and we won’t get too down about one game.

“I enjoyed it,” said Williams. “It was hard but you want to play against all the top players.

“They were good players and they know their roles really well.

“When we watch the game back and analyse it we’ll take a lot of positives from it.”
