Isn't it time we stopped dissin' Yeovil!
Isn't it time we stopped dissin' Yeovil!

The official Leeds website could not resist trotting out the old "Where's Yeovil?" Line as the Somerset club booked their place in next seasons Championship, Hwever shouldn't we show the folks from Huish Park at bit more respect.

In 2007 when we hit our lowest ebb under Dennis Wise and faced up to League One for the first time in our history, the club ran off a load of "Where's Yeovil?" t-shirts which I thought were arrogant and disrespectful to a club who should be admired for establishing themselves in the Football League during the past 10 years.

Mind you, seeing as Kenneth Bates had taken us into administration and was threatening to liquidate the club if he didn't get his own way I suppose we needed the money from the t-shirts!

Personally I will never forget the fantastic response we had from the Somerset club when we last visited in April 2010 as the game fell close to the anniversary of the brutal murders of Kevin Speight and Chris Lofthouse in Istanbul. As we increasingly hear depressing chants at away matches mocking the deaths of the two Leeds fans and increasingly the stain Leeds born Jimmy Saville has left on the nation, I am looking forward to filling the away end at Huish Park for them and extend a warm welcome to the Championship to them!
