Radio Wales To Provide Live Swans Commentary
Friday, 16th Aug 2013 07:25 by BBC Radio Wales

Swansea City has signed a live commentary deal with BBC Cymru Wales, a big part of the broadcaster’s plans to reflect the most exciting season of Welsh football ever.

On BBC Radio Wales, there will be FM coverage of every Swans Premier League game in in the city and the immediate vicinity, starting with champions Manchester United this Saturday. Meanwhile BBC Radio Cymru will broadcast a comprehensive selection of Swansea games to the south west and selected matches across the whole of south Wales. Plus a number of games will be broadcast by both stations across Wales, including the first South Wales derby on November 3rd.

BBC Radio Wales has been granted permission by the Premier League to broadcast every Swansea City game, home and away, on FM in the Swansea area (which covers the city and approximately stretches east to Neath, west to Carmarthen, and north to Llandovery). The rights do not extend to broadcasting outside this area, unless that game is also on BBC Radio 5Live or 5Live Sports Extra. The rights restrictions do not apply for Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup games. Meanwhile, BBC Radio Cymru has been granted permission to broadcast Swansea games across the whole of south Wales on FM. Again, these rights restriction apply only to Premier League games and do not apply if the game is being broadcast on 5Live or 5Live Sports Extra.

BBC Radio Wales Editor, Steve Austins, today wrote a blog detailing what fans of Swansea City, Cardiff City, Newport County and Wrexham could expect this season, including a new nightly edition of Radio Wales Sport and new post-match phone-in called Call Rob Phillips, which starts at 5.30 this Saturday (on all frequencies except FM in the Swansea area). On Radio Cymru, football fans can keep up to date with Dylan Jones and the Ar y Marc team every Saturday morning at 8.30. Radio Cymru’s broadcast plans for matches can be viewed each week on the website www.bbc.co.uk/radiocymru and clicking on the “Blog”

Radio Wales will also host a football phone in every Saturday 'Call Rob Phillips' will be broadcast from 5.30 to 7.00pm and you can call Rob on 03700 100 110 or text 8-10-12
