Le Tiss Believes Saints Are Now A Top Ten Premier League Club Monday, 19th Aug 2013 14:21 by Matt Le Tissier Matt Le Tissier believes that ambitious Saints are a top ten Premier league club after beating Spurs to the signing of Osvaldo, in the latest of his blogs. Matt invites you to play his FREE goal-prediction game Goalden Goals at www.goaldengoals.co.uk. Southampton are a top ten Premier League club in my opinion after signing Pablo Osvaldo from Roma. Osvaldo’s £15 million arrival at St Mary’s shows that the Saints really do mean business this season. My old club have now broken their record transfer fee twice in recent weeks after spending £12.5 million on Victor Wantama. And the very fact that they beat Tottenham to Pablo’s signature just goes to show how ambitious the club have become. The Saints have now spent £36 million this summer-the third highest in the Premier league-which must rankle Arsenal fans. Osvaldo was Roma’s top scorer last season with 16 goals and I fancy Southampton to improve on last season’s 14th position. I think they can build on what they achieved last term and finish a few places higher which is why I have tipped them to get into a top ten spot. As I said last week Rickie Lambert’s goal-scoring debut for England gave everyone at the club a boost. Saturday’s away victory at West Brom, thanks to Lambert’s late penalty, has only added to the feel-good factor at St. Mary’s. And Osvaldo’s arrival now makes Mauricio Pochettino’s squad even stronger and shows just how far the club have come. Of course the Saints are still a long way off challenging the likes of Manchester City who have spent £90 million this summer. City have got an incredible squad of players and they are making loud noises because they don’t want to play second fiddle to Manchester United again. But I am still tipping Chelsea to win the Premier League because Jose Mourinho’s return has already given the club a bit of impetus. We saw that in their opening day victory over Hull City where the manager was give a terrific welcome back to the Bridge. They have some very good players and their line-up of attacking midfielders is so strong with Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Frank Lampard. I believe Oscar will get stronger and as Lamps showed against Hull he is still useful in front of goal even at the age of 35!
