Swans Coast Past Petrolul - What Did They Say?
Thursday, 22nd Aug 2013 23:19 by Phil Sumbler

Unsurprisingly it was all smiles at the Liberty after the game as the Swans all but secured their place in the group stages of the competition after brushing past Petrolul 5-1 in a dominant display.

So what did the key people have to say?

MICHAEL LAUDRUP, SWANSEA MANAGER“To score five goals and win 5-1 is an excellent result, we kept the ball, scored three goals and had a few more chances without giving them anything.

“They have some interesting players, but my players did well, especially in the first half. They made some changes in the second half, but we still did well.

“Apart from their goal, they only had two or three other efforts on target and 5-1 is fantastic ahead of the second leg.

“But you always have to finish the job. We are very close to getting to the group stages and that would be historic for this club. "

TWO GOAL WAYNE ROUTLEDGE“In many ways it was a nice response to last weekend,” he said. “Everyone was disappointed and wanted to get it out of their heads.

“It was nice to win 5-1 — it gives us a great platform out there to hopefully get the second part of the job done.

“I was happy with my two goals, the first was about hitting the target — it was a great ball from Jonjo. The second was a great ball from Pablo - he picked me out at the back post.”
