Dale were handed a repeat of the 1961/62 League Cup Final after being drawn at home to Norwich City in the second round of the League Cup. This brings an early return to Spotland for Matt Gilks who joined the Canaries in the Summer.

In a rather bizarre draw which took place after much delay on Sky Sports, Dale were already drawn at home as part of their seeding, before the draw was even made.

And then when it came through, we were put at home to Norwich City. As mentioned above, Dale played Norwich City in the final of the League Cup back in 1961/62 with the East Anglian side coming out on top over the two legs. The programmes from that game often fetch up to four figures when put on sale.

And again, this is likely to be an early return to Spotland for Matthew Gilks. Gilks left Spotland in the Summer to sign for Championship side Norwich, though he has yet to make a first team appearance for the Canaries. However, nobody will be surprised if he makes his debut that night.

The game is likely to take place on Tuesday 28th August.
