Manchester City are keen on bringing young Everton defender John Stones to The Etihad Stadium in the summer.

The deal could see City midfielder and former Toffees man Jack Rodwell move in the other direction. The 19 year old who moved to Goodison Park in January 2011 has made 18 starts for Everton this season and is on the fringe of earning a call into the England squad in the coming weeks and is also being tipped to go to Brazil for the World Cup.

City are looking to strengthen their defence in the summer with Joleon Lescott leaving this summer and the jury is still out on Argentine Martin Demichelis and Serb Matija Nastasic.

Everton are keen on bringing back Rodwell, but any deal to bring the former Barnsley defender Stones would have to include a large transfer fee as well as Rodwell.
