Not In My Lifetime Fans Interview: @6thDayBlue
Friday, 11th Jul 2014 09:51

Today's Not In My Lifetime Fans Interview's start with the popular @6thDayBlue.

1) When did you become a City fan and why?

Always have been a City fan, always will be.
I'm proud to say "I was there when we were ____ "
Why ? It's in your blood. Nobody suffers years of defeat, humiliation and anxiety by choice do they ?

2) What is your favourite City moment of all time/most treasured memory?

Has to be the 5-1 murder of United in 1989 (I think) back at Maine Road. I know we have 'done them over' convincingly since then, but that's my favourite as it meant more in those days.

The visit to Groclin, when we blagged it into the UEFA Cup (through fair play) was a special away-day. I have vague recollections and ticket stubs from Poland, Belgium and Wales.
It's all a bit hazy to be honest, I have flashbacks of moody policemen with batons herding us down a dark lane on the Belgium trip and UK police boarding the plane back from Poznan airport due to a few 'tipsy blues' having a cheeky drink or two (or twenty) and the pilot threatening to do an emergency landing in Munich if they didn't behave.
I'm assured by Wiki that it was that season when TNS moved the fixture to the Millennium Stadium in an attempt to gain more revenue through seat sales, and they said in a press release "Let's see how loyal their fans really are".
As I say, most of it was a blur, and I have a dodgy hand held video of 'The Incredible Sulk' (Anelka) scoring a penalty, but it was my first European trip, so don't quote me on it !!

More recently, I remember when we won the league in 2012. A 'fuller figured' (fat) chap who sits near me, launched himself over the rows in front to celebrate. During the euphoria nobody really noticed where he had landed. Three months later, at the start of the next season, the lady who sits in front of him arrived in a neck brace...... Yes, you guessed it, she'd been wiped-out by his landing, but thankfully she took it in good spirit, as that Aguero goal was priceless.

3) If you could bring back a former City player into this team who would it be and why?

We have seen a significant increase in 'new fans' at City over the past few years, so I think we should bring back some of our former failures, so that they (the new fans) can see just how bad we were.
Naturally Lee Bradbury, the Greek tragedy etc spring to my mind, but they are busy how about Vicente Matías Vuoso ?
Failing that, let's get Robinho back. Not to let him play, as he's probably gone all 'fatty Ronaldo' these days, but let's put him on the bench, and when he moans, we'll fulfil his dream of playing for the 'other side of Manchester' and send him on loan there !!
If other blues vote for big Andy Morrison to come back, can I have Barton in the dressing room with him ? Andy Morrison would certainly teach Barton a thing or two, and would knock some respect into his skull !!

4) Manuel Pellegrini, Your opinion please?

Can we blend Manuel's football genius with Mancini's dress sense ? Perhaps a 'love child' of the two would work ? Mastermind on the field, suave and well dressed in the press conferences.
Also, he needs to smile at least once a season.
Perhaps Manuel should learn some Northern dialect to answer our press and their seemingly endless dribble and pointless questions.
Manuel could learn phrases like:
"Tell me, is that United top still hanging on your son's wall?"
"Did you used to be in the Happy Mondays ? You have let yourself go a bit"
"Yes we did win 5-0 are you Geoff Shreeves ?"
"Speak Louder and Clearer...... What? Do I want to buy your book before it's pulped ?"

5) Best and worst moments of last season?

Best and worst moments of last season?
Best: I made it to kick-off once (I think)
Worse: Flat beer at half-time each week
Best: Alan Hansen ending his time on Match of The Day
Worse: Alan Hansen getting paid £40,000 per episode of Match of The Day (source Daily Fail)
Best: Constant 'Faux-Pas' by ITV and BTSport
Worse: Adrian Chiles, 'Inaudible' Michael Owen
Best: My City playing 'Barca-flipping-lona' and it's not a friendly for once !
Worse: The hangover the morning after the Barcelona game
Best: Watching a game on my iPhone at 2,800m whilst skiing
Worse: Getting the phone bill for streaming 90 minutes on top of a mountain
Best: The City fans "Moyes In" plane flying over OT
Worse: Moyes being sacked

6) Transfers have already been made, but anyone else you would like to come in?

The Mexican TV viewers were treated to some lovely presenters whilst we suffered Adrian Chiles on ITV. Perhaps the lovely Miss Pike could be accompanied in City Square by one of the ladies ?
Any disagreements between the ladies could be resolved with a 'bout in a mud bath' ?
(I'm asking for a friend like....)

iPad bans.... Due to the success of our club, it is inevitable that there are now "Visit Manchester City" packages sold all over the world. But do they have to be near me ?
I'd like to see a separate holding-pen where they (the visiting £500-a-seat brigade) are housed, in order that my view of the match is not impeded by iPads taking pictures every 30 flipping seconds. If the club allow (under the Human Rights Act) visitors 'free movement', then can we issue them with targets on their backs so that we know whom to throw the peanuts at ??
(Again, I'm asking for a friend like......)

7) Any players you would happily drive to his new club?

Not a player, but a fellow fan. There is a grumpy git on my row, that clearly lost his sense of humour after (allegedly) being dropped on his head as a child.
He takes offence at my being "a little bit late" most games. The rest of our row see it as part of the match day routine, as I offer out kisses, sweets and apologies for being a teeny weeny bit late. He howeve,r just moans under his breath all through the match.
I'll drive him to Stockport County, and buy him a whole row, all to himself, so nobody is late and causes him any anxiety !!

8) Favourite current player?

The 12th man, aka "The fans..."
1894 Group are making a big noise in the South Stand, and fair-play to them for all their efforts !
10/10 also to the good blues on twitter. Great banter and some genuinely nice people.

9) Any players that have been let go this summer that you would have liked to stay?

He's not gone yet, but since #CakeGate I have a 7 foot long fancy dress cake outfit ordered. If YaYa goes, what will I do with it ? Perhaps one of your readers will like to buy one ?

10) Who was your first footballing hero and who are your favourite all time player/s?

Billy the fish
Roy of the Rovers

11) And finally, What are your expectations for the new season?

A) A significant amount of banter from fellow blues for the answers above
B) Increased chants of "Hayley Cropper is a blue"

C) Constant explanation, that you never believe anything you read on the Internet
