Dyer - Perfect Chelsea Preparation

Nathan Dyer looked like one of those players at the start of the summer who may well have been on his way out of the Liberty Stadium.

There were many who believed that his time at Swansea was coming to an end and there were links with Aston Villa and Norwich amongst others.

But none of the reported interest ever came to anything more than speculation and now Dyer is focused on the job in hand and getting into the Swansea side in the new season.

He was a second half substitute today against Deportivo La Coruna and that could (and possibly should?) mean a place in the matchday squad for next week’s season opener at Chelsea.

Dyer believes that today’s 0-0 draw with the Spanish side was a good preparation for next week’s game at Stamford Bridge and he told Swans TV after the game “We played a side who are technically good and it was hard for us to break them down.

“The new players are still settling down and looking good.

“We are going into the Premier League in good condition with everyone looking good and settled.

“Playing against foreign teams is good for us to prepare for Chelsea who are a good team

“There is a lot of competition for places and everyone is looking to put their mark on the team and get involved as much as possible.

“It is always healthy to have competition and to jostle for places — that brings the best out of the players.”
