Man Utd Legend - Top Four Club Should Take Montero

It was only going to be a matter of time and now we have people tipping Jefferson Montero for a move away from the Liberty Stadium just a week into the new season.

If you ever wanted to understand where Garry Monk was coming from when he said the transfer window should shut before the season starts then this is one of the classic reasons as a player starts the season on top form and immediately you have people believing that he could be picked away to a 'bigger' club.

Montero has shown just what he is capable of against both Chelsea and Newcastle with what looks like two man of the match performances and he is attracting much praise from outside of Swansea as they finally wake up to what we always knew he was capable of.

It was halfway through the game at Chelsea last weekend that the first mumblings from the local journalists were that Swansea would now want to get through the transfer window fending off interest in the player. The comments may have been tongue in cheek at the time but it is true enough that more performances like this and people may consider opening their cheque books (do people still use cheque books these days?)

Personally I cannot see anyone coming in for Jeff in this transfer window but with form the way it is at the moment then January could already be a concern for us. Garry Monk believes he is the best in the Premier League at taking people on and on current form it is hard to argue.

Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand believes that a top four club should take a chance on Montero as he tweeted during last night's match of the day

I suspect that at some point in time over the next two weeks we will see a direct article linking Montero with a move somewhere but I will almost guarantee you that he will still be a Swansea player when the transfer window closes.
