Shelvey Wants England Place Back

There will be a host of players around the Premier League at the moment who are looking at their international team and wanting a place in the squad particularly when there is a major international tournament around the corner next summer.

Jonjo Shelvey is one of those players and having been involved in the England set up before then he wants to get back into it again and on the form he is currently displaying it would be hard to ignore him surely?

Roy Hodgson - it has been well publicised - is not a regular visitor to the Liberty Stadium but he could certainly do worse than making a trip down this season especially with the form of not just Shelvey but Jack Cork as well, both of whom are producing some brilliant performances in midfield and would be an asset to the England team.

It has long been mooted that playing for Swansea almost gives you a disadvantage to get into the England squad but the performances of these two cannot simply be ignored and if they continue the way that they are going at the moment then a call up surely has to be a matter of when rather than if?

Shelvey clearly has it on his mind and that has to be a massive benefit for us as it means that his performances will be top notch and when Shelvey is on the top of his game then he certainly doesn't have many equals in the Premier League.

“That’s everyone’s dream, to play for their country and it’s obviously my dream as well,” said Shelvey after the comfortable disposal of Newcastle.

“Hopefully I can keep on putting in performances like that for Roy Hodgson to let me in to his squad.

“I feel a lot better in myself. When I went away in the summer, it’s all been well-documented about the chef and all that. But it’s just a matter of just keeping on top of it now and maintaining it and listening to the manager here and improving every day and fighting for my place.”
