Everton And Ash Again? Move Away Roberto Please...

We've been here before but today's papers are reporting that Everton would still like to make a move for Swans captain Ashley Williams if, as expected, John Stones completes a move to Chelsea before the transfer window closes.

Ash was linked with a move away from Swansea to Crystal Palace earlier in the transfer window but both manager and player have insisted that he will be staying at Swansea but that does not stop the speculation carrying on in the newspapers.

Stones has been a target for Chelsea for most of the summer and it is now being suggested that he is having a medical ahead of a move to Chelsea and that will force Everton to move for a replacement.

Whether there is anything more in this other than press speculation remains to be seen but with former Swans boss Roberto Martinez in charge at Goodison Park there could be something in it but there again it could be lazy linking by a journalist.

The piece for me though remains the same as it did when it was Palace that were sniffing and that is that we should not be thinking about selling Ashley and I am not sure that he would even think about moving on. He has said himself this is a big season for him (and us) and it has started in great fashion and I am not sure why he would want to jeopardise that.

I am not sure that wages would be any higher at Everton than he is earning here at Swansea and we certainly have the capability to finish above them in the league this season.

I genuinely would hope that should there be a call from Everton enquiring after the player that we send them away as quick as we can and concentrate on the job in hand and that is of course finishing as high up the Premier League as we possibly can.
