U's Vs Coventry - Durham's Preview
Saturday, 14th Nov 2015 09:16 by Durham Exile

This week sees TH and his Colchester charges pit their wits against TM and his high flying Sky Blues.

Somewhat of a bogey side (except when we deservedly beat them in the FA Cup) the U’s will have to be at their best to defeat Coventry this Saturday. The Sky Blues will be buoyed by the away support of more than 724 of their supporters at the WHCS.

Now I am heartedly sick and tired of hearing that Coventry will be without Reda Johnson (injured) and Ryan Kent and Adam Armstrong (both absent on International duty). A club of Coventry’s pedigree have adequate replacements including Romain Vincelot and the excellent Jacob Murphy, who spent a successful loan spell with us last season. Similarly Joe Cole remains doubtful (there have always been doubts about Joe Cole!).

TH will also do well to ignore their constant bleating about a possible new CC ground at the delightfully named Butts Park or their possible “tenant” status at Wasp’s Ricoh Arena which they now own.

TH would do well to point out that Colchester too have serious injury doubts with Kane Vincent-Young, Richard Brindley, Darren Ambrose, Owen Garvan, Sam Walker and Jamie Harney still out.

TH would also correctly point out that the WHCS is at long last becoming somewhat of a fortress and he would be keen to prevent Coventry from securing top spot this weekend whilst at the same time improving our own chances of a place in the top six.

The good news for TH is that Gavin Massey, Chris Porter, George Elokobi and Jamie Jones are all fit and raring to go. This gives TH a problem about team selection (a rare occurrence this year to have real choices to make) with decisions as to whether to restore Club Captain Chris Porter to the starting line-up or consider Gavin Massey or play the talented Macauley Bonne who was outstanding against Wealdstone last week..

Suggest that he returns to an attacking 4, 3, 3 formation along these lines:

Jones

Edwards Eastman Elokobi Briggs

Moncur Gilbey Massey

Harriott Sordell Bonne

Subs:

Parish Olufemi Kent Lapslie Sembie-Ferris Porter Curtis

A decent crowd at the WHCS will enjoy a spectacle against Coventry. Keenly contested I expect the U’s to upset the Coventry favourites tag and enjoy another welcome home win.

The faithful will be present in good numbers. Enjoy the game.

Up the U’s
