70% Advocate A Financial Gamble
Sunday, 17th Jan 2016 12:34 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @Swansnews)

Last night as we slipped back into the bottom 3 of the Premier League we asked our Twitter followers if we should gamble with the club's finances in an attempt to retain our place in the Premier League.

Over 400 people have so far responded with the results looking like the below

The question was asked on the back of much criticism over the club's perceived lack of activity in the transfer window to date, a transfer window that has seen Jonjo Shelvey leave and to date nobody new coming in.

The precarious nature of most clubs finances at this level is well reported across certain aspects of the media but as we read of other clubs making big money purchases it leads fans to question our ambition.

The predicament I guess at the moment is whether the gamble is worth it. Clearly it would be worth it if it guaranteed Premier League survival but if we were to drop to the Championship would that gamble have backfired and would we be regretting it almost as soon as the season finishes.

Nobody knows the answer but I do firmly believe that for me money should only be spent if it is within the club's ability to afford it and also within the budgets that have served us so well for the past 14 years.

But do others think differently? It seems likely.
