Friday, 23rd Sep 2016 10:09

Saints have issued advice to supporters travelling to Happoel Be'er Sheva including free buses being laid on from Tel Aviv to the game.

Saints have issued details and guidelines for supporters travelling to Israel next week.

Many Saints fans will be staying in the Tel Aviv beach area and therefore the club are laying on free buses to take fans down to Tel Aviv on the day of the game..

These buses will leave from a place called the Dolphinarum (An abandoned nightclub and local landmark) which is on the Beach front of Tel Aviv approximately a 15 minute walk South from the Marina and main are of Tel Aviv.

These buses will leave at 15.30 hrs on the day of the game and should take no more than an hour or so reaching Be'er Sheva at around 16.30 hrs for an 20.00 hrs local time kick off.

Those on the buses will be able to pick up their match tickets and will need photographic Id ie Passport that matches the name on the ticket.

The buses will return to Tel Aviv straight after the match.

Those not going on the buses will need to pick up their tickets from the stadium on the day of the game at the ticket office near gate 1.

Seating is unnallocated so it is a case of sit where you like.

Southampton Football Club have warned that security is very tight in and around the stadium and you can expect to be searched around 3 times on entering, this is normal and is not specifically for our benefit.

For those who are staying in Tel Aviv, but do not want to take the buses down, trains to Be'er Sheva can be taken from Tel Aviv Savidor station , they are frequent and take around an hour, the cost for the return trip is approx £10.

However the last train is at 23.00 hrs from Be'er Sheva North/University station, this is around 2.25 miles from the ground and so about a 50 minute walk.

For those staying in Tel Aviv the beach area stretching from the Marina in the North and down to Jaffa is where most of the bars and entertainment areas are situated, expect to pay around £5.50 per pint in most bars although many have happy hours and there are what are known as bracelet bars where for around 50 -150 shekkels ( £10- £30 ) you buy a wristband which gives you unlimited drinks in that bar.

There are also a number of 10 shekkel bars which are exactly what it says on the tin, every drink is 10 shekkels.

There is not a drinking culture in Israel, most bars are quiet in the early evening and do not liven up much before 10pm even midnight, but stay open for most of the night or until the last customer leaves, certainly this applies at the weekend but it may be quieter in midweek.

In general the prices are a little higher than London for most things including food and drink.

For those staying after the game though be aware that Israel is very religious, on Friday afternoon the last train back to Tel Aviv is around 15.00 hrs and none on a Saturday, there is absolutely no public transport in Tel Aviv on Saturday which is their religious day, if you are flying home on that day then you will need to get a taxi back to the airport.
