Franny Is Heading Home ! Find Out Where You Can Roar Him On !
Sunday, 16th Oct 2016 08:59

Francis Benali will once again arrive back at St Mary's after an epic charity fund raising challenge, find out here what his route will be to the finish line.

All being well Franny will have left Brighton this morning and will have been joined by Saints Chairman Ralph Krueger for the first ten miles, as most will know he has split each day between running and cycling and he will arrive at the Ageas Bowl in West End at 2.30pm.

There he will pause for some physio treatment before running the final miles to St Mary's on foot where he will arrive at around 3.40pm although his journey will not officially end until half time of the game against Burnley when a lap of the pitch will see this mighty challenge ended.

The finishing tape will be held by young cancer sufferers Joe Scully, 14, and Josh Carrington, 10, whose stories have helped inspire Franny as he has battled through the pain barrier on his 1,400 mile trek.

Franny added:

“The welcome home I received in 2014 was incredible. Saints fans were unbelievably generous and I hope they remain as passionate as I am about supporting Cancer Research UK’s pioneering work in immunotherapy, helping to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.”

Southampton Football Club said.

"As a club, we are all phenomenally proud and inspired by the incredible determination and willpower that Franny has shown.

"It is a truly phenomenal effort and the funds raised will make a huge difference to such an important charity in Cancer Research.

"We urge as many people as possible to get behind Franny in the final stages of his challenge and donate what they can to help the fight against cancer."

Franny’s route through Southampton from the Ageas Bowl will take him along:
Marshall Drive
Botley Road
High Street
West End Road
Moorhill Road
West End Road
Montgomery Road
Maybray King Way
Bitterne Road
Bitterne Road West
Northam Bridge
Northam Road
Britannia Road
Arrive at St Mary's

Organisers suggest a a good vantage point to cheer Franny on is the Big Cheese pub at the end of West End Road in Bitterne and of course the final stages in Britannia Road.

Ponder on these words from Francis himself.

"THE AGONY I WILL FEEL DURING THIS FORTNIGHT WILL BE NOTHING COMPARED TO THE PAIN OF CANCER SUFFERERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. "

It is easy for all of us to say a statement like that, but how many of us would be willing to go to such pain to help others ?
